...Babylon 5 to return with JMS at the helm

Well, she did get a number of episodes off.

Just realized I’d mixed up the names of Marcus and Byron, and was wondering why everyone hated that sweet Ranger dude.

Then the last few posts reminded me it was PsyFabio that was Byron.

Oh, yeah, Marcus was great.

“Life’s not fair, and that’s a good thing. Because if life were fair, that would mean that all the bad things that happen to us were our fault, and how horrible would that be?”

Marcus was Byronic.

Byron, on the other hand, was just an asshole.

Marcus Cole : I used to think it was awful that life was so unfair . Then I thought, ‘wouldn’t it be much worse if life were fair, and all the terrible things that happen to us come because we actually deserve them?’ So now I take great comfort in the general hostility and unfairness of the universe.

Or:
Cole: The Minbari say the only way to understand the battle is to understand the language. War is as much concept as execution.

Franklin: What else did they teach you?

Cole: Delight, respect, compassion. That for your actions to be pure they must proceed from direction, determination, patience and strength. I’m afraid I’m still working on patience. They taught me how to live, how to breathe, how to fight and how to die. And they taught me terror. How to use it. And how to face it.

Franklin: I think I’d like to hear more about that.

Cole: No. You wouldn’t.

And of course

You see? It’s like I’ve always said: “You can get more with a kind word and a two-by-four than you can with just a kind word.”

There is a category of character actor who’s talent gets overlooked and then they get that one role that makes you realize how good they really are. B5 had Andreas Katsulas and Peter Jurasik.

I think he was more of a Keats, being sinless and all.

It sounds like the project hit a bump recently when the CW channel was sold, but Straczynski reports that he has been assured that the pilot is still going to happen although delayed to 2023.

It wouldn’t be Babylon 5 if everything went smoothly.

“Faith manages.”

Kaboom. What? Eventually there’s always a kaboom.

“I’m Russian. We understand such things.”

Very sad life. Probably have very sad death. But at least there is symmetry.

When the long night comes, return to the end of the beginning.

We’re getting an animated movie.

I don’t have time to check right now so I’m not sure if this is all we’re getting or this is expected to build an audience for a show that’s still coming.

JMS says one person held back Babylon 5 for 20+ years.

Man, fuck that guy.

Oh, and some actual new news, though not about the reboot:

With the reworked CGI, yay!
