Does anyone know of any baccarat systems and software that I can practice with? If you have experience with the system in actual casino play that would be helpful.
There are lots of PC casino games you can use to practice on your computer. If you mean a “system” as in a supposed method for beating the game, I don’t put much stock in those. Baccarat offers some of the best odds of any casino game, but it is, after all, a game of chance.
Baccarat is like betting on a coin flip, only with worse odds. You have no control of the cards, and the house has a built-in advantage. Remember, cards have no memory. So betting systems will just cost you money in the long run.
Bet on the banker every hand. Even with the commission they collect for banker bet wins, this will still give you a slight edge over betting on the player. This is about the closest to a ‘system’ you’ll find for baccarat, and it’s not much. Because you make no hand decisions in baccarat, unlike in blackjack, there can be no real ‘system’.
Actually, there are count systems that can get you a theoretical edge in baccarat. However, they are hideously complex, because there are no numerical overall counts you can employ like blackjack. Instead, you have to count combinations of cards, and how they interact with each other. There have been some teams of players that have tried this, with each player maintaining counts of different groups and then signalling each other.
In the real world, it’s very, very difficult, and the edge you gain over the house is miniscule.
But as the others have said, if you’re looking for a ‘system’ based on identifying past patterns of wins and losses, or a system of progression bets or something, such a beast does not exist. A truly random trial will always result in some apparent patterns, but they are meaningless for predicting the future.
Here’s a good rule of thumb: If the casino is willing to give you a pencil and a piece of paper for making betting calculations, then those calculations are guaranteed to be meaningless. Try bringing a pad of paper and a pencil to a blackjack game, and see how long you last before they kick you out of the place.
