Using the back button on my web browser to go from a thread back to its sub-forum is no longer working; I have to scroll back to the top of the page and click on the link instead. Is it a problem everyone else is having as well, or is it just me?
It’s working for me.
What browser, in what OS, are you using?
Firefox, Windows 8.1.
This is pretty common when a web page automatically loads another page. You hit the back button but all it does is go back to the page that forwarded you and you end up right back where you started, so it looks like the back button didn’t do anything. If you right click on the back button you can go back a couple of pages and get to where you really want to go.
We don’t do that type of forwarding here on the SDMB, but some of our advertisers do. This isn’t necessarily something nefarious either. Advertisers do it so that they can have a permanent link to their advertising page but can then change the page that it forwards you to for different ads. News sites often do the same thing, automatically forwarding you to newer versions of the story and that sort of thing.
If it really bothers you, using an ad blocker will block the ads that are causing this.
