Back from Key West and the Everglades

Ivylad and I are back from our vacation, celebrating 20 years and the Ladies being cancer free. We had a marvelous time. We snorkeled, parasailed, ate key lime pie at the Blonde Giraffe, and made it down to Blue Heaven for breakfast. We learned Simonton runs parallel to Duval, goes all the way down to the Bight, and has much less traffic. We also learned you have to tip practically everyone who sneezes.

We also learned that although this is the wrong season for seeing the critters in the Everglades (the rainy season means more water and the animals spread out more) it’s a wonderful time to see the flowers blooming.

So, aside from Farrah Fawcett’s death (:() and MJ’s passing (I could not care less) and Sanford being caught with his pants down, did I miss anything?

I hope you made at least a brief stop at Pigeon Key and walked the old bridge. If you didn’t, try to do it the next time.

Welcome back.

We were limited because of Ivylad’s mobility. We spent quite a bit of time on the Bight. He likes looking at the boats.

The Duval Crawl . From Hogs Breath, Captain Tonys, Sloppy Joes and all the way up to Margaritaville ,has to be done . Then the 90 mile from Cuba marker, the Aquarium, Hemmingway House, Fishers museum, Wreckers museum, Light House and live entertainment all day long. Key West is fun.

We visited Sloppy Joe’s, but didn’t find the food that great, and we did visit Captain Tony’s. We also saw Hemingway’s House and Fischer’s Museum. I must say, the hamburgers at the Rum Barrel were to die for…I would go back there again, perfectly seared and reasonably priced. The Pirate Soul Museum was fun too.

Sloppys is not about food. They have very good entertainment every day. It is a night spot. They have cameras set up and you can view the stage, and bar areas from the comfort of your own home. There are a ton of good restaurants around town. My favorite watering hole has always been Captain Tonys.

http://floridakeyswebcams.tv/ These cameras will show the action around town.
Sloppys is not about food. It has very good entertainment and is a hot spot. There are a few of them. But there are a lot of excellent restaurants around town. For sandwiches I like B.Os wagon. I eat at Louies Backyard every trip down there.

Louie’s was right by our hotel. We were trying to figure out where Jimmy Buffet lived…he apparently lived right next door to Louie’s when he wrote Margaritaville. We did find his recording studio. It’s an unmarked portable building down on the Bight.

the Coconut Beach resort is Buffets old house. The building with 100 units is the original house. My unit is 101. It is next door to Louies. We have our own door to Louies. =Did you try the deserts there?
I bought the time share before it was built. There was one original building they started with.
