Back to School in the MMP

September. I got two calls on Monday (from the same company), six yesterday (six different companies).

I should go do my exam (online courses) but it’s 5am and I have two weeks to do it and a case of the Don Juanas…

Work ran extra, thanks to last minute customers. And employees

.

Feel better, cheesy!

Feel better, Nettie.

Moooommmmm!, you’re gonna iron the tubetop and thong?:dubious:

Nava, welcome back ,stranger! : tacklehug :

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 74 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 88 for the day and sunny. However, I am headed back down to the extreme south forty which could be rainy and stormy. I’m sure it will be if I go there.

That’s the excitatement for now. I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, alas and alack, irk purtification must commence.

Happy Hump Day Y’all!

Morning, mumpers! I am back from my travels, had an amazing time in Honolulu but now I’m back at work and wondering exactly when my head is going to catch up with the rest of me. I’m jetlagged still, not sleeping when I ought to, and to make matters worse we have embarked on a 6-week detox diet thingie so I can’t even console myself with a proper cup of tea.

Get well soon, sickies…and don’t waft yer germs over this way!

I killed the MMP with a measly ‘blurf’? I had no idea they were that powerful!

Sorry, I had to have coffee before I could Mump.

Up and caffeinated. Gonna watch practice ,then work. Gordie woke me up at 0600, singing The Song of His People and the neighbors. Stoopid dog.

You’re gonna watch work? Does the boss know about &/or allow that?

With great Blurf comes great Responsibility, Cute One. :dubious:

Another terrible night with much coughing, therefore much wakeage. But I’m up, showered, halfway dressed (robe over unders) and my pants and twinset for the interview are ironed. I dreamed last night that I showed up for the interview with blue paint spilled all over my khakis!

Anyway, after **FCD **left, I crawled back in bed and dozed on and off for the next 2 hours. I need to get out of here in about 40 minutes, but for now, I’m breakfasting, caffeinating, and Mumping.

As I was pressing my clothes, I got to thinking back to high school. I’d gone to see my guidance counselor about getting a job, and she asked how fast I could iron. I was in all the Honors classes for college-bound students, a solid A-B student, and she thought I’d be suited to a career in laundry maintenance?? But to add perspective, this happened in the early 70s, and she was easily in her 50s, she all she knew was woman as teacher, nurse, or Happy Homemaker. I’m so glad I wasn’t born in an earlier era…

Depending on how I feel after the interview, I may meet **FCD **for lunch. But judging how I’m feeling right now, I’m thinking I’ll just come home and die…

Happy Wednesday anyway!

I seem to remember getting very similar advice from my Uncle Ben*; do you know him? :dubious:
Good luck, Mooommm!
Swampy is going to die! …& go to Heaven; not only do you need to eat a ½ lb of bacon, but the race t-shirts are scratch-&-sniff bacon scented!

*No Peanut Gallery comments about him telling me about rice, Dog-e-o!

No, I am unfamiliar with the prison system.

I’ll hold off, but only for a Minuzte. :stuck_out_tongue:

Welcome back. Did you get to other islands besides Hawaii? I’ve been to Honolulu for less than 24 hours, so I need to put the Islands on my to-do list.

6 hours jet-lag? Try the Sydney, Australia to Dallas-Fort Worth flight (15 time zones, 16 hours flying, so you arrive 1 hour (clock time) after you leave). That will mess you up good.

but I second your germs-away policy; I was sick in April for two days and so far I haven’t caught anything else (famous last words).

So you were found not guilty by reason of insanity then? :o

You’ll be fried for that!

No, we were only gone 8 days and I needed some serious rest so we didn’t really push ourselves on the trip. We are planning a return trip at some point where we can visit at least two islands, maybe three if we can make it a sensible plan.

The jetlag is not too bad, I’m just no sleeping properly at night and then feeling tired during the day when I should be wide awake. The time difference was about 11hrs but I always find it’s worse for jetlag coming west to east for some reason, but I know I’ll get over it in a few days once my sleep patterns are back in the right place. If you want to go and visit exotic places, sometimes you just have to take the associated jetlag and deal with it!

Well, that was most interesting…

Turns out the interview was with the person who got my resume from the first headhunter. But the company names are different because of… some weird gummint contracting thing that I don’t entirely understand. BUT the head guy there was especially interested in my background as a structural engineer and wanted to know if I’d be interested in doing that also. So I was being interviewed as both a drafter and an engineer. I did tell them I don’t want to do a lot of travel - once in a while is OK, but I don’t want to be on the road all the time.

I got the impression that either way, I’m going to get an offer. And I could start work as early as Sep 14, theoretically. Oh, and the company does test and evaluation stuff on a variety of aircraft, so as an engineer, I’d have a lot of variety. And as a drafter, I’ll need to learn new software, but that’s no biggie to me.

So we shall see. Oh, and the interview lasted maybe 15 minutes. They didn’t have too many questions and I didn’t have any, beyond what their work hours are. (They start early! YAY!) Anyway, fingers crossed.

Happy happy joy joy. I think my hair dryer is dead, and I wasn’t exactly budgeting for a replacement right now. A loud popping noise and a possible blue flash are not good signs, are they?

As an instrumentation and electronic engineer, I should say “No”.
