Back To The Future Episode 1 PC/Mac Free Download!

Tell Tale games are giving away the first episode of their new Back to the Future series of games.

Just order from their website and make sure you use the code: “121GIGAWATTS”

Can you give some more info, like a link to where you can get just the first episode? All I see on their website is the full game for $25, and the code you posted doesn’t seem to do anything.

Well that works. I figured as a promo they’d give away one of their older games if anything, but BTTF is the most recent. I guess they want to get people hooked on the rest of the series.

By the way, on Windows 7 at least you need to run the launcher as administrator or it won’t work right (clicking play does nothing). To do that, right-click the launching and select “run as administrator” - you may have to enter a password to an admin account if you’re not on one.

Sweet! You do have to make an account, but they don’t even require you to put in a credit card, so there’s no way they could suddenly take money from you.

I hope they also won’t ever make the game break. Too bad they don’t know how to make the game run as a local user, though. That gives loses them some points towards a future purchase.

Still, my Dad loves these types of games, and is a BttF fan. I just hope it will run on his old computer. I didn’t see any System Requirments–did anyone else?

I don’t know about system requirements, but I have trouble running Tales of Monkey Island in an older generation of processors.

You know, I am happy to support the kind of work Telltale does, and it’s always been worth the money to me. But I must admit that it does grate a little that they keep giving away shit that I’ve already paid for. For Back to the Future, I bought it in December, played the relatively brief episode, and they didn’t come out with episode 2 for two months.

But now they’ve not only churned out a trailer for Jurassic Park, they’ve announced a couple of new franchises they’ll be cranking out games for – Fables (a comic I’ve never seen) and Walking Dead (a zombie comic which has been worked into an AMC series). I’m sure I’ll buy all these, but we’re not talking Sam & Max here. For these, I think I can probably wait for the non-loyal customer discount.

Nice! Thanks, I’ve been wanting to check the series out.

And thank you Telltale Games for being awesome.

I bought the full game when it first was released, so I’m in the middle of playing the second chapter right now. Really enjoying the game. Not frustratingly difficult, but not insultingly easy, either.

And the guy who they got to impersonate Michael J. Fox does a REALLY good job.

I’ll second what Anamorphic says on all accounts. Really, Telltale has been very good at getting the challenge just right. I still haven’t maxed out my score on any of the Teen Girl Squad cartoons, but the fact that my imperfect entries make sense and are funny shows a good game design. And although I did wish Michael J. Fox could have reprised his role, I was quite surprised at how well the other guy imitated him.

Thanks for the tip–I’ve downloaded it, but not had a chance to play yet. It sounds promising, and it couldn’t come at a better time. Having just acquired a DeLorean, I’m on a major BttF binge right now.

Yeah, it didn’t work. What’s funny is that it didn’t even tell me it wasn’t going to work. I thought most setup programs were a little smarter than that.

Oh, well. I may be getting a laptop soon, and I can let my dad use my computer. It’s not great, but it barely meets the system requirements I found online (after I’d already tried it on Dad’s computer.)

I’d play it myself, but I still have this thing where I get motion sick from playing games with any significant amount of movement.

By the way, I forgot about this before I started playing the new episode, but people might want to know that the game isn’t exactly for hard core adventure gamers. It’s relatively easy, I assume because it is designed for people more into Back to the Future than into adventure games in general. It’s fun, but very beginner-friendly.

One thing I didn’t mention was that I was trying it on a Pentium 3. It works fine on even five year old computers. Heck, I can run it on my netbook, if I don’t mind long load times. (Oddly enough, you have to set the graphics up to 4 to get it to work with the netbook’s Intel 950 card.)

And it’s also available on the iPad, albeit not for free. And now you can get a DVD of the whole game with commentary: previous buyers only have to pay shipping for the DVD. Telltale is doing right by me.

Yeah, I’ve gone ahead and gotten the actual disk and box for all the games they’ve offered it for. Also, now when they offer a game you already bought as a pre-order bonus for the next game, they now give you the option to gift it to somebody.

I’m a little behind, what with Skyrim and all, so I’ve still got Hector and Jurassic Park to finish.
