Yeah? Ain’t it a kick in the head?
I’m glad that I don’t; because when I was twelve, I didn’t really have any. Now I do; both online and IRL.
And I, also, am glad that Beck is here.
This is what matters most, IMO. Everyone has bad days and bad moments, but when you can step back and say, hey, that wasn’t cool of me, I have great respect for that.
You know it’s easy to belittle and and torment the downtrodden(or dosed, as it may well be).
We all have our moments when things just don’t come out of our heads and are communicated in a way others appreciate.
I can excuse and forgive most anything.
When you double down and throw others under the bus out of animosity that no one understands, it’s just wrong.
I have very young grandchildren who can understand this.
You have to live and learn, I guess.
Nice!
You DO have your own cult…and here we are! More than a few True Believers; a majority of Fellow Travelers; and a handful of schismatic heretics…
Long may you wave!
Beck, you are part of the reason I still come to the SDMB. You keep it real and remind us all that there are worlds we do not inhabit, but need to know they exist. I like your stories, your questions and your family’s hijinks. And for the most part, you are coherent. And when you aren’t, we know to notify your family that your glucose is off.
Sending you hugs and love. Sending that poster hugs, hope, and healing.
“Beck-Heads?”
“Wreck-Heads?”
“Beck-la-va?”
I mean … I think there should be a term of endearment, no?
[And, no: I think it’s too soon for T-shirts or other branded merch. For now.]
I can excuse and forgive most anything, except threatening to leave a message board over and over and over and over and…still not leaving? Love this “reply”, Beck.
I’m stay now now.
Should we be Beckinators?
I’m not understanding the anatomy of her Pitting, but perhaps I’m missing something. From what I read, she pitted Beck because she doesn’t like her, and she doesn’t like her because many people like her. What did I miss or get wrong?
I still think we missed the moment. I wanted a “That Possum Ain’t Right” T-shirt with a drawing of the possum grinning out from under the porch with the dentures he’d found.
A T-shirt like that would be very cool. The fact that no one out in the real world would have a clue what it meant would be a bonus! ![]()
The Tale of the Possum is just one of the great many reasons that we love our Beckers. Its seemingly early demise was no one’s fault, as it turns out that, tragically, possums typically have an unusually short life, often just a couple of years.
My WAG: In the old days, posts every day by the same poster sharing mundane ramblings were discouraged by moderation. MPSIMS wasn’t really intended to be a blog. So the beef was that Beck posts these sort of posts that once upon a time wouldn’t have been allowed. This annoyed that person apparently enough to come out of lurking and start a thread about it.
Personally I don’t mind. It’s trivially easy to avoid those posts if you don’t like them.
Yeah, I’m nothing if not mundane.![]()
Ah, thanks!
You give Rene Descartes a headache.
Exasperating, I know.
And Descartes needs a new coiffure. That’s where his headache comes from.
I missed all of this, but this person didn’t know that Mr. Beck shoots snakes one handed at five hundred yards?
