Bad, bad, bad day at the Farm store

This was poor quality dog ownership to allow this. I am surprised they are allowed back. Maybe they’re a big spending customer.
I do understand the fear of the mother.
What I don’t understand is how this is humorous.

I don’t think anyone claimed the mother’s fear was something to laugh at. But most of the rest of it is actually pretty funny, especially the way Beck tells it!

It was the image of the dog peeing on the stacks of cat food and the humans fruitlessly chasing after him that made me laugh out loud. Startled my snoozing Siamese right off my lap.

And you’re right, none of us were laughing at the frightened child or mother-most of us understand how scary that would have been, I certainly did.

Must be something about those farm stores…

When I was a kid, my dad had a German Shephard that was generally well-trained. We went one day to the farm store and left the dog in the pickup with the windows rolled down. We were in the far back corner of the store getting some horse tackle when there was a bit of a commotion and the sound of a dog’s nails tapping on the floor.

And then coming around the corner was one happy dog who was quite pleased with himself for finding his family, followed by four or five store employees who had been trying to catch him. Apparently he was able to trigger the automatic sensors for the front door and let himself in. The employees said they were quite impressed - he made a beeline straight for us with no detours.

We kids borrowed a horse lead to take him back outside and wait in the pickup for dad to finish his shopping.

They all got off easy. My mom was terrified of dogs. An incident like that would have upset her for days, even if she wasn’t physically harmed trying to get away from the dog (which she might have been.)

No one got hurt this time, but callous behavior, endangering animals, and disregard for others isn’t funny to me. I don’t find driving 80+ in a residential area funny either.

I’m so glad it wasn’t worst and no one got hurt. You’ll have to let us know how much Dillon’s day out hurts your wallet though.

That read like a tv episode. The more I read, the more I kept thinking what the hell is going to happen next. It held my interest for sure!

What the hell does that have to do with the subject of this thread? Just last night in this area, three small children were killed in a crash caused by a dangerously speeding driver and their parents seriously injured. No one is going to start a “fun” thread about that. No one. But mischievous dogs are often inherently funny! There was no real threat to anyone. Dillon peeing on cat food was priceless!

Yes, there was a threat. This is a dog that once bit a trainer.
You’ve never owned a store, where property damage is not so hilarious as you imagine.

Agreed. If the dog ain’t trained to heel without a leash, the dog shouldn’t be in public without a leash.

Imagine the whole thing with Yakety Sax playing in the background.

Except for the bits about scared kids & moms and policemen, the whole event is just classic 1930s cinema physical comedy: “Redneck idjit goes to town; slapstick ensues.”

I’d buy it that’s for sure! LOL

That is too much! :grinning:

That’s a scene from a comedy.

We got the bill for damages.
$23.56.
1 bag of their brand dog chow.
3 bags kitty litter.

They let Dillon have his bully stick. And excused him eating treats from the open bins.

My son got pix from the Mom. Pix she took of the kid petting Dillon and him smiling. Taken as they were standing there laughing with the cops and store employees.

No one was injured. No one was traumatized. No one was arrested. The dog catcher(Iguess they have one) never came and picked the dog up.

The bill has been paid.
I also got a note from the manager saying Mr.Wrekkers 14 monthly Simparica tablets were in.
Guess how much that bill is monthly?

Alls well that ends well. I’m glad no one was hurt. And i hope Dillon enjoys his bully stick.

It would make a great movie scene.
Was there ever a scene like that?

That’s amazing! If I had been the manager, I’d just have written it off and considered it payment for the entertainment!

Thanks for the update!

It would depend on the strength, but if it’s anything like Sentinel, not cheap. I’m guessing about $200 for 14 tabs of Simparica Trio of average strength.

$402 on Chewy.com for a 12 month supply, 12 tablets.

Yep. And we buy it monthly. He gets a store discount and tax exemption.

But still.
The Beagles would not be as old as they are had he not taken care of this regularly.
The old days it was applying topicals, sprays and such. Treating their quarters and the whole kennel.
A pill is still a PITA. But its doable.

He loves his beagles..and Dillon.

Wow, so it’s not just human drugs that are subject to price-gouging in America, but also canine ones! 12 tablets of average strength of Simparica at Petsmart in Canada would be CAD $276, which is about $198 in US dollars.
