This coverage of coverage on the Capitol mightily amused me for quite some time. No need toupee.
Damn you! I have a cold, and laughing hard makes me cough! Very funny article. I love the “Mangy Hair” trend!

Rep. Chabot, proud owner of the Worst Comb-over in Congress, rabidly opposes abortion in every corner of our nation except on his own head, where he’s clearly failed to carry his hair to term.**
Good god, was that photo of McKinney photoshopped? Those eyes… :shudder:
Funny stuff.
Can someone cover the fashion mistakes made by nearly every female in government? Why are pearls the size of gumballs and those hideous suits a standard in D.C.? They don’t dress like any power businesswoman I’ve ever met. They dress like my ageing aunt at a blue-hair luncheon. You know…the pursed lips and the boxy handbag in a paranoid clamped-down position on their laps. And don’t get me started on the heinous shoes!
It’s the Queen Elizabeth influence.
Holy jayzuz…I think you’re right. It’s an abomination. Those gumball necklaces make me want to take a pair of scissors and watch them tumble to the floor. Then I can watch those women step out of their severe shoes so they won’t topple as they walk across the floor of the rotunda.
Personally, I like it that women in government are more interested in performing their jobs than in being lauded in fashion magazines. Are you as appalled at the fashion sense of the men in government? Or is it just an extra duty of the women to appear glamorour as well as being able to do their jobs?
Well, yes. I think they could all stand to take a look at what businessmen and businesswomen are wearing and doing with their hair, and then they should consider their own scary Ladies Who Lunch outfits or their dreadful toupees and they should make an effort to look nice. Really, styling your bald-ass head is much easier than working on your toupee, they could have more time to run the government.
Men’s professional attire generally doesn’t change much over the years. They wear a suit, shirt, tie, and shoes that require shining. I rarely see them branch out into colored shirts and interesting ties, but it would be a breath of fresh air.
As far as the women go, they can do a good job in government, can still look professional, and can be attractive. Why would you have to look like a frump to do a good job? It doesn’t take much effort to dress stylishly. If it’s that hard for them, then I’d think other forms of multi-tasking would do them in.
I once read a little remark that of all the things people do in this country that are recognizable by appearance, only politicians have no sexual fetish built up around them. People just don’t find anything about them attractive, power notwithstanding. Why is political hair so ugly? There’s more to it than just appearance, I think. Something psychological or marketing-oriented.
