Bad Movies You Still Love

I agree about KFM! What a movie!
Who can forget Big Jim SLade and the great trailer for the non-movie “Catholic High School Girls in Trouble!”
Also:
Blazing Saddles!
Bob and Doug Makenzie’s Strange Brew (“If I didn’t have puke breath, I’d kiss you.”)
Batman (Adam West version)

“The Last American Virgin”: a classic Golan/Globus teen extravaganza (with then-cutie Diane Franklin as the heartbreaker. Not a bad soundtrack, either)

“Dead Heat”: Treat Williams AND Joe Piscopo. Ole’ Treat is a cop (named Roger Mortis. Think about it) who gets killed and then brought back to life to find and punish his killers. Oh, and for good measure, Joe buys the farm as well. Did I mention the zombie gang of thieves. Oh yeah, Vincent Price!!!

“The Quiet Earth”: The classic last-man-alive bit, but set in New Zealand. And what the hell did the ending mean?

how about rustlers rhapsody with tom berringer, andy griffith and patrick wayne.
it’s about a good guy riding through the west. of course, since he is a good guy, he can only shoot bad guys in the hands.
and the ending still makes me laugh out loud no matter how may times i see it.

Damn, my first choice only made it to Post #2The Evil Dead.

Good call on They Live, too.

What about Stone Cold, with Brian Bosworth? (Who I thought was actually kinda decent in it.) Very bloody shoot 'em up, but it kept me entertained, and I’ve watched it a few times and still enjoy it. Cool biker storyline.

Honorable Mentions:
Shaft and Superfly (Yes, I like '70s blaxploitation movies. Should I feel guilty about this? Put up your best badass, and Richard Roundtree will come along and bitch-slap him into oblivion.)

Better Off Dead

Also, I don’t consider this a bad movie, but it never did much, and it’s one of my all-time favs - John Carpenter’s remake of The Thing with Kurt Russell.

 :stuck_out_tongue:

I just want to add my voice to a few of these:

  1. Dungeons and Dragons- I hope they do another MST3K and use this movie.

2-4) Better Off Dead, One Crazy Summer, How I Got Into College - Savage Steve Holland’s (Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Fox Staurday Morning Lineup) 80’s teen flick comedies. Every one a jewel.

  1. Last Dragon - Hey, my childhood nickname and username came from this movie. I made my wife watch this. We are still married anyway.

  2. Some Kind Of Wonderful - So what if it is a newer version of Pretty In Pink by the same director, I still love it and the soundtrack.

  3. And God Spoke - great bad movie about a bad movie.

  4. Johnny Lingo - 35 bonus points if anyone can identify this one. Hint - “10 cow woman”

  5. Rustler’s Rhapsody - “Roots beginning to work” “You ride alone, you’re the most unalone guy I’ve ever met.”

  6. The Call Me Bruce - I also love this one growing up. My favorite line is when “Bruce” is in this hot tub and some supposedly sexy woman walks up, drops her robe and “Bruce” says (in broken english): “You are a ten.”
    Now naked woman: “Thank you”
Bruce: “You are a ten where you should be a thirty-six”.
(Ok when I was 14 this was the height of comedy - both scandalous (I saw nudity) and funny).

Streets of Fire
Big Trouble in Little China
Prince of Darkness
Remo Williams
Once Bitten (Jim Carrey)
Labyrinth
Flash Gordon
Last Dragon
Red Dawn
Better Off Dead
Legend

These movies are why I won’t get near a TV if I have work to do, because if I come upon one, I will watch it until the end.

I forgot one…

Amazon Women On The Moon

Kind of a spoof on bad movies, but funny nonetheless. Funny variety skits featuring now well-known actors, like Michelle Pfeiffer, David Alan Grier, Arsenio Hall, etc.

Knight16, you’re on dangerous ground calling Blazing Saddles a bad movie. It was critically acclaimed (for the most part), quite successful at the box office, and is a favorite of many people.

Most of my other bad favorites have already been mentioned:

Anything by Russ Meyer
Remo Williams
Rustler’s Rhapsody
Caveman
Huson Hawk
- Which I think is incredibly funny*
Streets of Fire* - Walter Hill on acid*
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas
The Naked Lunch
Existenz* - These three just totally creep me out, but I always watch them

I ** never said it was a bad movie. I love this movie. But it’s long-standing success on Broadway not withstanding, I was under the impression that it was not a successful movie. And everyone I mention it to says “Yuck!” or, more often, “Huh?” My wife even makes me keep my copy of it in the bedroom as if it was porn or something. Of course, I was a teenager when the movie was released, so my perception of it’s reception may have had something to do with my peer group at the time.
Anyway, I hereby withdraw my nomination of this film. I agree with you Cal, It was not a bad movie.

No one has mentioned Weird Science???

Objectively, this is a truly bad movie, with a plot that makes no sense and dialogue that is incoherent, but dang what fun!

Kentucky Fried Movie? I got it on tape!

I’d second Flash Gordon (I have it on tape, too) but I don’t think it’s considered a bad movie, since it’s a parody of bad movies.

Others that have already been mentioned: Enemy Mine. Overboard (wish they’d do a sequel). Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter’s Dead

Also adore: Revenge of the Nerds. Tommy Boy.

HMMMMM? I thought WEIRD SCIENCE was good. Oh well.

My guilty pleasures----

REEFER MADNESS
RODAN
GODZILLA
COBRA WOMAN
RUN, ANGEL RUN
THE WILD ANGELS
THE BLACKBOARD JUNGLE
BILL AND TED’S EXCELLENT ADVENTURE

Pookah, I’ll see your Labyrinth and raise you Legend.

Nighthawks - With Sly Stallone and Rutger Hauer.

Let it Ride - Richard Dreyfuss plays a guy having a VERY good day at the race track. Terri Garr and David Johannsen are in it. I love this movie.

All this and no one has mentioned My Science Project? It’s so bad that I can’t even remember the plot or the cast without consulting imdb for it. [url=“http://us.imdb.com/Title?0089652” My Science Project

Fixing the link.

(edited by me)

Yep, I have it.

You know, reading this thread, I don’t know what worries me the most, the fact that I have or seen many of the movies listed here, or that I want to see/own those that I haven’t seen yet.

Clueless. And the modern version of Romeo and Juliet. Oh yeah, and Titanic.

Ok ok, Well one of my guilty pleasures is the sequel to they call me bruce, entitled “They still call me bruce”.

Also how about “the last dragon”

And I can’t BELIEVE no one has mentioned this YET. The ALL TIME bad movie that you just HAVE to enjoy:

Lou Ferrigno and Sinbad of the Seven Seas.

They even say it’s an edgar allen poe inspired movie, even though it’s not. How can you not LOVE this movie?? I mean at one point Lou has to climb out of a pit filled with snakes…And he ties them all together to make a rope to climb out with. The funny thing is the rope/snake is very very obviously toy rubber snakes!
