So, I guess she only needs to give you back 225 dollars in change?
I love a good chicken sandwich (fried). And they have a good one. The chicken salad…not so much. Really good ice tea, which is rare.
I know people who are boycotting them. Most of them wouldn’t eat there anyway.
I find that I don’t care that much about the personal beliefs of the owner. I mean, I don’t agree with politics of the owner of my company, but he still signs the paychecks
Besides, :
Seriously, even if you boycotted for the opposition to gay marriage, why would you STILL boycott after after he backed down? That makes you kind of a dick, or just someone who really doesn’t care for chicken sandwiches.
I have no interest in either KFC or the Chic-fil-a (a silly name by the way).
Although a few reports came out [in 2012] stating that Chick-Fil-A would cease its policy of donating to anti-gay groups, those reports have proven to be erroneous. When asked about the company’s policy in an interview with the Baptist Press, Cathy said that Chick-fil-A was “guilty as charged” regarding its millions of dollars in contributions to established anti-gay organizations.
Both are too damn expensive… I go to Winco and get 9 pieces for a third of KFC’s price and it tastes just fine to us.
Th owners are still troglodytes and I refuse to patronize any organization or business run/owned by such

Sells more chicken than KFC.
Gee, Dan Cathy sure did show us.

KFC has horrible service as a general rule. Slow. Rude.
The crispy chicken is rarely ever crispier than the original recipe. The chicken is often dried out.
And it is extremely, EXTREMELY overpriced.
Chic-fil-a is evil on a bun, but it is tasty. And the service is always extremely friendly and prompt. No matter how slamming busy they are (and they often have lines of dozens of people), you get your food quickly and it is tasty.

I’ll have a look next time I’m by. I remember them having dollar menus, just like BK and McD’s, and their combos only being about a buck or two more expensive, not enough to go jump from the McD/BK level of pricing to 5 Guys/Fatburger pricing in my head. But maybe things have changed.
I stopped at a Wendy’s a couple of days ago for the first time in ages, and they did in fact have a 99 cent menu. Looking at their website, it’s called the “Right Price Right Size” menu: http://www.wendys.com/en-us/right-price-right-size
I wanted the spicy chicken sandwich, which cost me about $5 (not a combo, just the sandwich), but a more budget minded customer could have gotten the crispy chicken sandwich, value (small) fries, AND a value drink or Frosty for less than that.

Yes, but then they wouldn’t have gotten the spicy chicken sandwich, which is one of my favorite sandwiches in the history of sandwiches. (I can’t eat them, but I get a little vicarious thrill when they are mentioned!)
ETA: The OP’s gloating notwithstanding, I don’t feel like this is good or bad news.
I consider fried chicken to be a different business from chicken sandwiches.
I’ve been going to KFC frequently on Mondays because they have a $5 special, and they don’t seem to be going downhill to me except for the fact that their crispy recipe seems to have a bitter flavor in it I don’t think was there before. Still, pretty good as chicken goes.
But I’ve also been eating from a place called Golden Chick, which I used to think was bland but because it’s near the library that I visit with my son every friday, I’ve come to appreciate their less elaborate seasoning, and their lightly breaded fries. They’re a small chain, it seems, but they seem to have an advantage in quality over KFC. Not necessarily in price, mind you. But you get free soft serve ice cream with your meal.
A few months ago I tried Church’s. It was kind of pathetic. First of all, I’m pretty sure that if a restaurant that serves greasy food primarily eaten with the fingers keeps its napkins behind the counter where you have to go and ask for them, they are hemmoraging loyal customers. Then, it turns out that their chicken is not greatly superior to grocery store fried chicken. I’ve noticed that something similar happened to Lee’s Famous Fried. It used to be my favorite, but the last couple of times I tried it the chicken was scrawny and crummy and they made you ask for napkins. I have imagined a scenario in which this decision was made by some executive in order to goose one quarterly report, but they’re stuck with it now.
I’ll worry about KFC slipping when they start keeping the napkins behind the counter.

Out of curiosity, I just checked, and, around here, Wendy’s is the same price as McDonald’s and cheaper than Burger King, comparing the 1/4 pounders with cheese at all three (Whopper w/ cheese in the case of BK). $3.79 at McD’s and Wendy’s, $3.99 at BK. Meals are similarly priced: $5.99 at Wendy’s, $5.79 at McD’s, $6.29 at BK.

My impression is that Wendys used to be more expensive. As the prices have gone up at the other chains, Wendys prices have remained more steady until they are now at parity. But the quality has gotten worse to compensate.
One person’s subjective opinion.
So are we allowed to eat and CFA nor or not because one opened not too far from me and I got a coupon in the mail for a free sandwich.
No, the members of the SDMB have decided that you are not allowed to eat at Chick-Fil-A.
I’m not sure anyone would object to obtaining a free sandwich though…
We’ll take a vote on that and get back to you.

You will become addicted to their chicken if you get the free sandwich. Chick-Fil-A is another in the long line of instances where I realize I could calmly slaughter the innocent, given the right motivation.
I went to a Chick-Fil-A the other week for my first time. All else aside, it was a pretty good sandwich and a crapton of customer service. I can see why people like the place.
Not really a comparison to KFC though – Chick-Fil-A does sandwiches pretty exclusively from what I can tell and KFC’s main thing is pieces of fried chicken. Both chicken but they feel like two different markets. I mean, I wouldn’t compare either place to Boston Market either and they also sell chicken. Just different schticks.
