Very interesting article and I admit I laughed hard at the jokes at the end of it (but then I think it’s been established that I’m kind of sick).
The link hooks up to the front page of a british tabloid with dozens of stories on it. Which in particular should we be looking at?
That’s no tabloid, that’s the very respectable, conservative Telegraph.
Those jokes are pretty shit. Apart from the Gordon Brown one, which is excellent.
The Brits find slapstick funny. Who woulda thunk it?
I don’t get this one: Dr Harold Shipman’s last meal was a curry. He said he enjoyed it but he could have murdered a nan.
And why don’t Brits like people with red hair?
Naan (or nan) is an Indian flatbread traditionally eaten with curry. “Nan” also means grandmother. Dr Harold Shipman was our most prolific serial killer, who specialised in killing the elderly in his care. Put those elements together and you should get it.
Because they’re ginger.
ETA: despite our shameful export of Benny Hill, and the existence of Norman Wisdom and Last of the Summer Wine, most of our humour isn’t actually slapstick.
I liked the jokes at the end but I give a lot of leeway of topics for joking purposes.
Over-all as jokes they were ok. I thought the ginger baby one was the best in the lot.
