Badminton and Tennis related questions

What is the average “successful” height of female badminton and tennis players? I’ve heard the male one is 6 foot 1.

In doubles, how does one choose a partner? How does the coach know that this partnership will work or whether it’s worth investing time to make it work?

Anyone?

On the professional circuit, the players seem to choose their own partners. Coaches in tennis are not in charge of the players, as opposed to the way it works in a number of other sports.

I’m not sure about the height question.

According to official statistics, the average height of the top ten women tennis players is 5’ 9" (you have to work it out yourself from the players’ profiles).

A good doubles tennis player must have a strong service and a solid play near the net. That’s why typical clay players don’t usually make good partners for playing doubles.

Apart from that, there is a tacit rule by which the best player always plays on the left side, when they are not serving, obviously. That's because, apart from a 40-15 score, all the possible game winning points are played on the left side, and couples prefer their best player to play those points.

No idea about the height issue, sorry.
