Bagpipes and what was your first dance wedding song?

we had * Come Rain or Shine [\i] (Billy Holiday)for our first dance. Lovely song and easy to dance to. I know you didn’t ask, but we also had *At Last[\i] (Etta James) as our last dance.

I think bagpipes are great!! My brother had them at his wedding and it let everyone know the party was starting. They played a very upbeat song and it was wonderful!!

dang!!! preview, preview, preview!!!:smack:

Only when asked politely, or compensated in cheese.

I used to play pipes, and have relatives who still play, so we had pipes at our wedding. We even got about half the guests up dancing a Gay Gordons.

For slow, distant music, I somewhat like The Rose of Kelvin Grove. That’s a tune I’ve got lost listening to while I was playing, then had to scramble to cut off on time when I got to the end (not my best performance, oh well).

Our first dance was The Proclaimers “I’m On My Way”. Very fun song.

I like to tell people my wedding song was People are Strange, by The Doors, but it’s not true. Sounds good, though.

"People are strange
When you’re a stranger
Faces look ugly
When you’re alone

People seem wicked
When you’re unwanted
Streets are uneven
When you’re down…"

Waiting for a Girl Like You by Foreigner. Yeah, we’re divorced now.

We danced to “I’ll Be Your Mirror,” by the Velvet Underground. The other top contender was the Beatles’ “In My Life.”

My sister-in-law and her husband danced to “The Best Is Yet to Come,” which was very nice.

I’ve always thought that “A World That Swings” by They Might Be Giants would be good, but then, we didn’t do the first dance thing (got married at Disney World and after lunch everyone went to the parks).

Bagpipes either play slow stuff that makes me want to spend some quality time with a Speyside whisky or uptempo stuff that gives me a deep and urgent craving to paint my face blue and lay about me with a claymore.

Our first dance was Louis Armstrong singing “My One and Only Love”. She’s a lesbian now, and we’re going to get the divorce paperwork started in the next couple of months.

You might not want to pass on my advice, now that I think about it.

We had a harp at our outside wedding.

Our first dance was “How Sweet It Is” by James Taylor (our DJ was SO BAD that we had to bring our own copy of the CD!). Not really a good song if you’re going to foxtrot or anything, buy my husband had forgotten every thing from the dance lessons anyway!!

Bagpipes at weddings are fine. Havn’t you see Brigadoon?

Our first song was I have a Love? (now I can’t remember if that is the name of the song). It’s from West Side Story and we used a version sung by Shania Twain.

A slow version (Tony Bennet) of The Way you look Tonight would be good IMHO.

Our first dance was to "In Your Eyes by Peter Gabriel. It was very cool.

Our first dance was “Nothing’s Gonna Change my Love For You.” by Glen Maderos

our second was “You’re the Inspiration” by Chicago

divorced now though.

we chose those two songs because they meant something to both of us. The first song was “Our Song” because the first time we had ever danced a slow song while dating was to that song and it seemed to haunt us on the radio for months afterwards…

I vote for Why don’t we get drunk and screw?

My sister loves the suggestions - she keeps asking, “These are from who? Dopers? What the hell is that?”

Tibs.

I’m ashamed to admit that I can’t remember what our first dance was. I do remember walking out of the church to the “Ewok Celebration” song from RotJ.

However, our reception was enlivened by a bagpiper that was hired by some friends as a surprise. I remember all of us marching around in a circle behind him, and one of my wife’s friends shouting out “Gi’e us Scotland the Brave.”

** LurkMeister** that is funny.

My husband and I walked out of the church to Greenday’s “Good Ridance” (of course, in our programs it was called “Time of Your Life”). haha

We had to edit out that first line where he says “Fuck it”. Didn’t think that was appropriate for church! haha

And she is still your sister?
EJsGirl was the music provided by one of you old boyfriends holding a boombox over his head?

I know we started off with a coupla slow numbers for my first dance with Mrs. F. as a married couple, and then her dance with her dad. Can’t remember what they were.

The first fast dance was to Dave Edmunds’ “I Knew the Bride (When She Used to Rock n’ Roll)”.

Our first dance at our wedding was to When You Say Nothing At All, as sung by Alison Krauss (originally written by Keith Whitley).
