Just wondering. My husband and I only had six guests at our wedding (our parents and siblings), so we didn’t have any sort of true wedding reception or first dance. But after we got done with the ceremony, I put on “How Forever Feels” by Kenny Chesney and we danced to it in my living room, so I count it as our first dance.
“The Best is Yet to Come” by Frank Sinatra
We were introduced to the reception with “Dirty Water” by The Standells.
“This Will Be Our Year” by the Zombies.
We eloped and both hate to dance, so…
PEnnsylvania 6-5000.
What a sweet memory to bring forward this morning.
We specifically requested “This Magic Moment” by Jay and the Americans because that had been the first song we ever danced to together when we started dating.
It was supposed to be Why Worry by Dire Straits. We picked Why Worry because we were just coming out of college and didn’t have the best finances and weren’t sure what life had in store for us. Unfortunately the band didn’t know that one so they played Lady in Red. I remember initially being mad, but then dancing with my new wife it all melted away and we danced and hugged and it was one of the best experiences in my life. I really didn’t know that song and just listened to it recently and realized that it really was appropriate (other than she was in white). We’ve had 28 years of ups and downs and three kids but I wouldn’t trade if for anything, and still remember that dance.
In Your Eyes by Peter Gabriel.
Feels Like Home by Randy Newman
Rascal Flatts “Bless the Broken Road”
Second marriage for both of us, and we’d both been through a lot in our lives, so it really spoke to us.
BTW we just celebrated our 3rd anniversary and are very much still in love!
Theme from “Around the World in 80 Days”.
Into the Hands of Death - Rob Zombie
Just kidding, it was actually the first 3 or 4 minutes of Art of Noise’s Moments In Love
No dancing for us!
Wonderful Tonight. She did and does even more so here twenty years later.
“Around the world, I’ve searched for you…”
‘At Last’ by Etta James. We had been dating a long time so it had kind of become a running joke with our friends and family.
“The Way You Look Tonight”, covered by Frank Sinatra
I Won’t Last A Day Without You by The Carpenters. It’s my worst song in the world and I was just kidding and the joke went too far and the next thing you know, there I am, dancing to it at my wedding!
“Forever’s As Far As I’ll Go”, by Alabama. My wife was a big country-music fan at the time, and Alabama was one of her favorite groups. So, while it was her idea, I found it more than agreeable.
I wanted this but my wife vetoed it - it was too long and she didn’t want to be out there dancing for over 3 minutes.
