And wow! Congrats, Elendil’s Heir!

Sorry guys, sorry gkster…next —

In Michael Jordan’s “Repeat Three-Peat” championship teams, 6x, 1991, 1992, 1993, & 1996, 1997, 1998, name the players he beat in the finals who would win (or had already won) an NBA championship as a player or who eventually got elected to the Basketball HOF — again, as a player (not as coach or administrator).

  1. Magic Johnson
There are 17 such players. 7 are HOFers. 4 of those 7 HOFers won NBA Championships. 14 players had already won (or would later win) NBA Championships.

ETA, to help, the teams he and the Chicago Bulls beat are:

1990-91 Los Angeles Lakers
1991-92 Portland Trail Blazers
1992-93 Phoenix Suns
1995-96 Seattle SuperSonics
1996-97 Utah Jazz
1997-98 Utah Jazz

I will echo gkster and say it’s probably time to give Michael Jordan, the Bulls etc. a rest.

I third the motion.

I fourth that. No more Michael Jordan, no more basketball.

Yeah okay, I’ll fourth it.

Here they are.

Memorial Day Weekend Memories

    1. That’s when my first wife, of 11 years and with 3 kids, broke the surprising news that she wanted a divorce. I was stunned, crushed. The kids and both families were too. But now, 25 years later, I am soooo much better off!

  1. Sometime around 2010 or so. Mets Friday night game at Citi Field. Supposedly a kickoff to the weekend with a small fireworks show after the game. Miserable weather, cold, wet and windy. Probably went down to 50° so we left by the 6th inning.

  2. Around 1997, after work I drove to Yosemite to hike Half Dome. It’s a great hike, and as soon as I got back to the valley I bought one of those t-shirts saying I made it to the top.

  3. Memorial Day Weekend 1988, the last night of a road trip to the Grand Canyon. Our final stop was Sequoia National Park. We had a canvas tent reserved, but they had overbooked so we ended up with a nice cabin with a huge tree right in front of our porch. Another benefit of having that cabin was that it had a heater and it snowed overnight. There was about 6 inches on the ground when we got up. Had a great morning hiking around the sequoia grove while tossing snowballs at each other.

New!
