National League Wild Card game. Juan Soto singles to right field for the Nationals, and Brewers outfielder Trent Grisham misplays the ball. Three runs score for Washington, and Soto deliberately gets caught in a rundown between second and third to bait the Brewers into tagging him out, giving Anthony Rendon the opportunity to score the winning run.
Sept. 28, Pete Alonso of the NY Mets hits his 53rd home run of the season, setting a new record for the most home runs by a rookie in MLB history. He also led all of Major League Baseball for HRs in the 2019 season
Game 1, National League Championship Series. Nationals pitcher Anibal Sanchez pitches a no-hitter through 7.2 innings in a 2-0 Nationals win over the Cardinals. In a great display of sportsmanship, the St. Louis crowd gives Sanchez a standing ovation.
