Baker's Dozen II (Part 1)

MASN is broadcasting every Washington Nationals playoff win this month. List your favorite moments of the 2019 baseball season, for any team

  1. September 3: The Nationals come back from down 10-4 in the ninth inning to beat the Mets 11-10
  2. Chapman grins as Altuve steals sign, hits walkoff pennant winner.
  3. Howie Kendrick clangs the go-ahead (and ultimately game-winning) home run off the right-field foul pole for the Nationals in Game 7 of the World Series
  4. September 17, Cavan Biggio of the Toronto Blue Jays hits for the cycle against the Baltimore Orioles, 17 years after his father Craig Biggio hits it for the Houston Astros
  5. Opening Day. I’ve done Opening Day every year since 1996. Without a miss. Until COVID-19.
  6. April 15. Jackie Robinson Day. The day when every player on every team in both leagues wears number 42, to commemorate Jackie Robinson. I always watch my Blue Jays on TV on April 15, but I can’t this year.
  7. September 29, 2019: SF Giants Fan Appreciation Day, and I was there, at Pac Bell Park (or SBC Global Park, or AT&T Park, or Oracle Park, whatever its name is
  8. September 5, Kyle Schwarber hits a grand slam in the 6th inning and the Cubs beat the Brewers 10 - 5.
  9. National League Wild Card game. Juan Soto singles to right field for the Nationals, and Brewers outfielder Trent Grisham misplays the ball. Three runs score for Washington, and Soto deliberately gets caught in a rundown between second and third to bait the Brewers into tagging him out, giving Anthony Rendon the opportunity to score the winning run.
  10. Sept. 28, Pete Alonso of the NY Mets hits his 53rd home run of the season, setting a new record for the most home runs by a rookie in MLB history. He also led all of Major League Baseball for HRs in the 2019 season
  11. Game 1, National League Championship Series. Nationals pitcher Anibal Sanchez pitches a no-hitter through 7.2 innings in a 2-0 Nationals win over the Cardinals. In a great display of sportsmanship, the St. Louis crowd gives Sanchez a standing ovation.
