Yes, what happens is when you have a URL of even moderate length, the post shows it in truncated form with an ellipse. When you copy and paste the post, you copy the ellipse rather than the actual undisplayed URL.
People really should use the quote function, which copies the actual message rather than just the displayed message.

Oh, hey, minor nit - it’s ellipsis, not ellipse which is a type of curve like a circle or parabola.
