Reason I know this fun fact: my father, when he was being sworn in, told the judge he was a grad student in political science. The judge busted his balls by asking him who the first president, etc. Can you imagine that? Dad was off by one.

So if Washington was born in Virginia Colony, then I suppose technically he did grow up to govern another (in fact, a new) country.
