Since the International Dateline goes around the Aleutians, I contest # 7

The International Dateline goes around the island but the lines of longitude run straight up and down. Semisopochnoi Island’s longitude is 179°46’ East.

The Rat Islands straddle the 180° line and Semisopochnoi Island sits right in the middle of the island chain. Which puts it in an unusual geographic situation - the islands on both sides of it are west of Semisopochnoi Island.

  1. James MacNeil Whistler for ***Arrangement in Gray and Black ***(aka “Whistler’s Mother”)

Whistler had many, many paintings, of course, but this is the only one that’s famous.

“Artist” is a broad term- painters, sculptors, poets, playwrights, novelists and composers all count.
