Somebody explain to me what a “reboot” is in this context.

A reboot occurs when a company takes a previously successful offering and releases it afresh, from its starting point with an updated or alternate skew. In the 1950’s DC Comics rebooted their line of superhero comics by giving them a more science-oriented look and feel. Daniel Craig’s Bond is a more realistic, fully developed psychologically, character than any of his predescessors.
