Led Zeppelin (well, Robert Plant has held firm ,anyway)
The Kinks
While Led Zep has reunited as recently as 2007 (at least the 3 surviving members) I suppose they would qualify …at the moment.
They broke up after the death of John Bonham, and have never recorded or toured together as Led Zeppelin. The three surviving members have performed together a mere handful of times in the past 35 years. I think that counts.
Bands that could but refuse to reunite at any price.
The Smiths
Led Zeppelin (well, Robert Plant has held firm ,anyway)
The Kinks
Pink Floyd (and Roger Waters)
ABBA
The original KISS
Guns N’ Roses
The original King Crimson
Talking Heads
Husker Du
Creedence Clearwater Revival
John Fogerty still despises Stu Cook and Cosmo Clifford, and refused to perform with them at the Rock Hall of Fame induction (John chose to have Springsteen’s band back him up). Tom Fogerty died of AIDS years ago, but John still hates him as much as when he was alive.
Fogerty is a genius, but MAN, can he hold a grudge!

The band still exists but Billy Corgan is the only original member still in it. He doesn’t get along with James Iha so they won’t play together. He says he now gets along okay with Jimmy Chamberlin personally but they also stopped working together. And D’arcy Wretzky has quit performing entirely.
Bands formed in/before 1979 who still perform with 1 or more original member
Kansas
ZZ Top
Chilliwack
Rush
U2 (Formed in 1976 and still have all 4 original members)
Cheap Trick
Golden Earring
Los Lobos
The same four guys have been in the band since they started it in 1973, while they were still in high school. A fifth member joined later and he’s still there too.
