How about the Beatles in The Lord of the Rings? It could have happened. United Artists acquired the rights to Tolkein’s book in 1969. The Beatles were at the height of the fame and they said they were interested in starring in the movie (with John as Gollum, Paul as Frodo, George as Gandalf, and Ringo as Sam). And they wanted Stanley Kubrick to direct. UA was interested by the terms couldn’t be worked out.

But imagine what the movie would have been like.
