'86 World Series Game 6 Mets v Red Sox. I was in the right field nose bleed seats. We were the first section to see the parachuter as he came in for a landing.
The last home game at Yankee Stadium in 1978- I sat in the bleachers with thousands of Puerto Ricans who were there cheering for Eddie Figueroa to become the first Puerto Rican pitcher to win 20 games. Never had so much fun at a game before or since (Eddie did win his 20th!)
Game 5, 2014 NLCS, StL Cardinals @ SF Giants. The Travis Ishikawa bottom of the ninth 3-run walk-off home run off of Michael Wacha and the Giants win the game 6-3, they win the series 4-1 and the NL Pennant on their way to winning the World Series.
I’ve seen some great games, but this is about the ballpark experience overshadowing the game. In 2000 Pac Bell Park opened in San Francisco. It was a big deal in town and the entire baseball world embraced the place (for good reason). A friend invited me to a party, being held in a suite or lux box or whatever. It was large beautiful space with booze, food and fun people. We also took a walk around the new ballpark. And when I say new, it was May 8th, just the 15th game played there. Some of us settled down in the late in the game and watched the Giants win, 6-4 over the Cardinals. That was a fun Monday night.
1982 or 1983. Yankees at Rangers in Arlington. Billy Martin came out during an argument and kicked dirt on the ump. Sat behind Dave Winfield in center (I think). Some Ranger, Billy something or other, hit a home run in the seventh or eighth while we were in line for concessions.
OK, for the sake of moving this along, in about 1993 I attended a Detroit game at Fenway park vs. Boston. I have no idea who won, but just being at Fenway park was magical. Some of the ushers were about 80 years old. We had (supplier) seats about 20 rows directly behind home plate. Sparky Anderson wandered out occasionally, and ritually stepped over the foul line each time, a superstition of his. I wandered around the park during the 7th inning stretch and just loved the atmosphere.
The “Brian Johnson Game”, 18 September 1997, Candlestick Park. An amazing game, and until Travis Ishikawa’s 2014 NLCS walk off, (#3 in this list) this was the greatest game I ever attended.
A random Braves game in 1995. Greg Maddux, my favorite player, was pitching, and the Braves won the Series that year.

09 October 1989: game 5 of the 1989 NLCS, Chicago Cubs vs. San Francisco Giants at Candlestick Park. Bottom of the seventh, Cubs leading 1-0, and Will “The Thrill” Clark triples off of Mike Bielecki, then later scores on Kevin Mitchell’s sac fly to deep CF. Then, bottom of the eighth and the score tied 1-1, Bielecki walks Candy Maldonado, then he walks Brett Butler. Bielecki then walks Robby Thompson. Bases juiced. Don Zimmer brings in Mitch “Wild Thing” Williams to face Will Clark. I was in the upper deck at Candlestick in right center field, and I can still close my eyes and see Clark’s single into CF to score Maldonado and Butler. The Giants Win the Pennant!!

29 September 1999, the final night game at Candlestick Park. Everyone got a Croix de ?Candlestick, a larger one than usual. In the final innings my wife and kids and a couple of kid friends from our church youth group went out to dead center field, upper deck, to the very top row and watched the last of the game from there. We were the only ones in that section. In fact, all of the CF upper deck was empty. It was a little chilly, yes, but not too bad, not nearly as bad as it could get at Candlestick. And the Giants beat the Dodgers, 5-1!

March 2000, the first-ever game at Pac Bell Park was a Spring Training game against the Yankees. The nicest ballpark in the nation opens its gates for the first time.
Let me move this along a little more…
(and no, I’m not a season ticket holder)

Monday, two days ago: Opening Day at San Francisco. My 20th straight Opening Day! I always take the day off of work, and when the kids were younger they took the day off of school. It’s a family holiday.
GO GIANTS!!!
There. Done. I’ll pass, unless anyone wants to go back to my sex-related category that we decided to drop.
