Aside: I always thought it ironic that song was such a hit for an American group in WW2 considering it was in German. I didn’t learn until a few years ago that it’s actually not German but Yiddish. (The original version was a hit in the Yiddish theater circuit of NYC, but they kept the title when they gave it new lyrics.)
