We’ll celebrate Christmas “Eve” on the 16th at my in-laws, a half hour away. With a white elephant gift exchange.
We’re opening presents on Christmas Eve, because my landlady’s grandson has a shared custody agreement between his father (who lives with my landlady) and his mother (who has remarried). Greg gets him every second weekend, but they make special arrangements during holidays. I’ll finally be able to see what Mom bought for me that’s been hiding in that red sack.
We’re spending Christmas with my inlaws in NYC; I love them more than my own relatives. And we’ll be having a traditional Chinese Christmas dinner in Chinatown. Yes, some Muslims have adopted the Jewish custom of Chinese food on Christmas.
My son and his boyfriend are flying in after Christmas. We’ll host them for a few days. It’ll be good to see them.
Having traveled to Vermont for Thanksgiving with my wife’s family, we’ll be staying home for Christmas; all three of our sons will be here to celebrate with us.

Christmas Day — at my wife’s aunt’s and uncle’s house, about 1.5 hours away. WEGE there, too. White Elephant Gift Exchange.
I’ll be driving across the state next week to my brother’s house where I’ll be staying through the holidays. Then I’ll drive down to Albany twice to pick up incoming relatives at the airport. Then all the return trips.
Sleep late, breakfast in front of the fire, and Bach’s “Christmas Oratorio” on the stereo.
Driving 1100 miles round trip with husband & kids to spend Christmas and New Year with my mom, sister, brother-in-law and their kids. We all get along well and they live in a comfy house 30 minutes from an interesting city (Toronto)
