I was so excited when I saw this in 1990. The Earthsea trilogy was a favorite when I was a teen and for an addition to the series to appear 18 years later was wonderful–until I read the book. It was as if Le Guin took the names of the characters she’d written about but made them completely different and unlikable people. :mad:

And Bayaker, my response to War and Peace is also “too much philosophy”. I just skip right over those parts.

I love Ringworld. It’s probably my favorite sci-fi novel. But The Ringworld Engineers (and, even worse, The Ringworld Throne) all but ruined it for me.
