There was a couple at DragonCon (a huge sci-fi/fantasy convention in Atlanta) last year who wore Wonder Twins costumes. I don’t know if the couple was brother-sister/romantic/platonic pals/whatever in real life, but they were super popular and probably had to spend hours posing for pictures.
Growing up in Atlanta, I remember when the focus of DragonCon was books and authors.
My, how things change. 
They still get some, but the focus has indeed shifted to celebrities and movies and cosplay. There are a lot of smaller cons where authors are still the focus (Chattanooga and one in Huntsville, AL are two DeepSouth ones I can think of).
