  7. Ed, my 14 year old grey Tabby cat.

Ed was my bachelor cat. When I was single, it was just me and him. I had a tiny bathroom window which was open year round so he came and went as he pleased. We lived downtown beside a little Irish pub that I frequented almost daily and he would either hang out on the patio or would sit on the chair or barstool beside me and my friends. He had a little bit of a temper too, which the other patrons would discover when they tried to pet him.
Now I’m married and live in a 5 bedroom house in a quiet neighbourhood with a wife and 3 kids and Ed is now the family cat.
He’s settled down alot but I can’t help but laugh at him when my 3 year old daughter tries dress him up as a princess and sit in on her tea parties or my two boys decide he is on the darkside or in league with COBRA.
Sometimes, I catch him looking at me with that “What the hell did you get me into” look and I can’t help but feel the same way.

Heh. Our dear black cat Sal, whom I mentioned earlier, liked to sit on my then-pregnant wife’s tummy whenever she was sitting down, and purr, purr, purr. We joked that he was talking to the baby. Then, when our first son was born and could move around enough to grab the cat, Sal seemed to be saying by his expression, “Whoa, this is new!”
