Bakers Dozen

Overheard in the Pontiff Emeritus’s new house

  1. “Who’d have thought an old fart like him would need a huge waterbed like this?”
  2. "Daaaaamn, He has been in here one day, and it already has that ‘Old-Man Smell.’ "
  3. “Sigh… where am I supposed to find him all 12 seasons of ‘Murder, She Wrote’ on DVD, translated into German???”
  4. “Pardon me, your ex-Holiness–Lord Vader is here for his 2:00 appointment.”
  5. “He doesn’t wear the red shoes anymore, but let me tell you, he still appreciates a good foot massage.”
  6. “Would you believe what he wears under those robes? Sandals with socks!!!”
  7. “What? No Former-Pope-Mobile?”
  8. “I don’t care if it’s Sunday morning and he wants to got out for breakfast. Explain to him that Rome doesn’t have a Denny’s.”
  9. “Alright! Now I’m ready for football season and can enjoy my Saints games on Sundays!”
  10. “He wants to know what time he has to show up for the Early Bird Special.”

Hijack: Joseph Ratzinger was NEVER a Nazi. As a kid, he HAD to join the Hitler Youth, as all German kids were required to.

  13. “He actually drove the Popemobile for 30 miles with the left turn signal on!”

  1. The Hitler Youth was a part of the Nazi Party. Joining the organization was mandatory for German boys. Ratzinger was a German boy and he did join. So that technically makes him a member of the Nazi Party, regardless of whether or not he joined willingly. And being as he quit, he technically is an ex-Nazi.

  2. This is Baker’s Dozen. We have people making jokes about Ratzinger going to Denny’s and driving the pope-mobile. Is this really the place where we’re going to draw the line on historical accuracy?
