  5. A black kitten named Verdi, that never made it to adulthood, alas
  6. Mittens the cat
  7. Pussywillow the cat, when I was 2 1/2. A kitten from a litter of strays that our neighbor found, we instantly bonded. Lived to age 19.
  8. Boots, a German Shepherd/Collie mix that we got when I was only a couple of months old
  9. 6 budgies, 25.
