Does not matter who starts it, just that korea is now at war.
Their economy goes to a war footing, some one issues a notam and no ships are entering korean waters or leaving, unless they are self insured or been nationalized. Japan is impacted to a certain degree.
So what could happen on the world wide economy in the short term.
It would mess up the auto industry pretty badly. Hyundai/Kia is a Korean company. General Motors has a pretty large Korean subsidiary, which used to be Daewoo. I’m not sure how badly other automakers would be affected, but there would almost certainly be parts disruptions across the industry.
Yep, i was not really thinking automotive specifically, i work in automotive and we just had a requirement come down from the manufacturers to signifigantlly increase purchases of supplied sub components that are made in korea, so " we have a cushion". Which i have never heard of before.
The thing is that automotive is only one facet of the economy, but if the far east, and i am including japan in this regard, because we dont purchase sub components from japan, so we may not have heard that japan was included in the requirement.
I would more wonder how volatile the tech industry would get.
