In your shit-spewing post, you found it necessary to insult me because you thought I didn’t appreciate your answer to my question. Well, I didn’t because your answer had nothing to do with my question.
You felt that I didn’t clearly express myself in the OP, but everyone (except your stupid ass) clearly understood it and answered accordingly.
If you thought that
was an attack, then you are stupider than you sound.
So feel free to jam this thread up your ass (gently for the first 500 times, so you can get your ass accustomed to it) and go fuck yourself (as often as you like).
So, I’m supposed to go to every car dealer and ask if I can look through the owner’s manual for each new car they sell? The question was it still a practice recommended by manufacturers these days.
For what its worth, according to a guy who supposedly was a chief engineer at Rover, car manufacturers recomend a gentle breaking-in period so the car won’t have too many mechanical problems for as long the warranty is in effect. Once the warranty has expired, they don’t care.
Maybe this was true back in the day when cars had one year warranties, but nowadays the minimum is 2 years and some manufacturers offer as much as 6 or 7 years.
I don’t see the point of asking a question if you’re going to reject the answers or the reason for your nasty responses to Balthisar and others answering your question. Pit yourself!
Has reading comprehension become a thing of the past?
Balthisar’s “advice” had to do with whether or not a person wanted to keep their new car for a short or long period of time and whether or not they should follow the manufacturer’s advice on proper care and maintenance. None of which had anything to do with my question (which was a simple “yes, no, sometimes” type question)
Before you post, try reading the ENTIRE THREAD and not just the parts you can understand.
Go back and read your OP. You didn’t ask that. The phrase “news car owners were told” doesn’t explicitly say “by manufacturers”. If you meant to imply that, work on your writing.
No, but apparently mind reading has.
In the future, please post your question and the answer you want to receive in your post. That way, we won’t piss you off by trying to decide what you are asking in the first place.
Who else is going to recommend a break in period? The FCC? the cast of Cats? The 1972 Miami Dolphins? No. It would be the car’s manufacturer, wouldn’t it? Those Dopers who responded with personal anectdotes obviously understood this, why can’t you or Balthisar?
What pissed me off is that Balthisar went off on a completely different tangent and, when I called him (her?) on it he/she turned into a dick.
I’m inclined to cut Balthisar a little slack since his employer and the domenstic auto industry in general is rough shape. He may be inclined to be a little testy.
