I think you’ve got a much more interesting story since you found a Tex Mex joint that serves crab cakes.
Do you remember the name of this place?
El Rodeo, perhaps? El Rodeo
Glad you scored! ![]()

That is the place, but that isn’t the review I would have given it (but then again I’m not an expert). Mine stayed together nicely. They did let me get the “sandwich” without the bun which they served with the sauteed vegetables. I was assured that the crab was local and fresh. The side of Old Bay would have been nice just to experiment with but I didn’t get that, nor the tartar sauce but that is fine. The one cake on the low end of medium size was just under $20.
Again, I didn’t get to compare it to other places but it was damn good in my mind (and mouth).
Glad to see Bo Brooks is still a going concern, I plowed through a lot of crabs and crabcakes there in the 70’s.
No love for Obryckis? ![]()
Damn, now I hunger for decent crabcakes.
They closed a few years ago, besides, I think they were better known as a place for steamed crabs.
Fells Point has really changed, a lot of my old haunts are under new management or gone.
Looney’s Pub is a chain that I think makes great crab cakes.
