bambi bashers, or give a submissive a chance

yes, i know it was a hoax.

it just seems to me that we tolerate lots of shit, especially here at SDMB, and i am somewhat surprised at how upset people become over this.

being submissive myself, i love the idea of something like this. i, personally, am more into humiliation than pain, but short periods of pain can be good too.

the best way i can describe what it is like to be a true sub is to compare it to being gay, and i apologize in advance to anyone that might be offended by that statement. that is just the closest comparison i can come up with. but from what i understand about the realization process and really having no control over your feelings, those things are similar for me.

i’ve always been submissive, and when i was younger, when i acted in my true nature i was told that that is wrong, nice girls don’t do that, i’d be called names and ostracized.

so i resolved myself to be ‘vanilla’. but that just didn’t do it for me. anytime i was with someone, the only way i could get excited would be to fantisize (i will try not to be too desciptive of that part).

now that i am older i wish i knew then what i know now cause i could’ve found a relationship that worked better for me. i wish people wouldn’t have made me feel wrong about my own damn feelings and let me be who i am. i’ve waisted so much time being what i am not cause i thought there was something wrong with me since i had always been told that when in reality, i just like it a different way than most.

you may not desire the same thing as i do, but it is not wrong for me to.

in conclusion, i would just like to say don’t tell me i am wrong for conducting my adult business in my way when it is consentual. and i won’t try to convert you

flame away, that’s why i posted this here.

Cite? Link? Something to give me (and probably a few others) a clue?

Here is a link - link

Well you asked for a link.

Sorry, that was silly of me. Ignore my link. wait for jwhee’s link, which will be relevant to the OP, won’t it jwhee

Psst…try the other thread.

Um. I think jwhee is talking about the story about hunting naked women with paintballs. There were a couple of threads about it (also uncluding the word bambi). Yes, it turned out to be a hoax.
jwhee, I can appreciate your take on it. I also happen to be a submissive. But I’m also a feminist. I haven’t gone through those threads, to be honest, but I’d think the problem here is the idea was presented not as a reasonable way for a Dom to interact with a willing sub, but as a reasonable way for a man to interact with a woman.

Which is bullshit.

I get seriously annoyed when anyone implies I’m submissive because I’m female, an therefore I’m supposed to be. This is a fucking dangerous idea. And tends to deafeat the whole beautiful idea of a woman claiming her own sexuality (like you have) as a submissive, or anything else.
Good luck on your non-vanilla future :).

Ok, here’s something for you: Learn how to use use the fucking ‘shift’ key – you third-grade fucking asswipe.

God, I hate these people…

You love the idea of losing an eye? Because that could happen to someone who got hit in the face with a paintball, if they weren’t wearing safety goggles. The “Bambis” were portrayed as wearing no protective gear whatsoever. Had this not been a hoax, it would not have been just fun and games and a little pain for the women involved. They could have been seriously injured.

If you’re into fun and games and a little pain then that’s your business, but serious and possibly permanent bodily harm is not a part of “safe, sane, and consensual”. Proper protective gear is required in sports like paintball for real safety reasons.

Ummm… If it wasn’t a hoax, they prob’ly would’ve worn protective gear.

I usually try to stay out of the pit but on this I feel the need to stick up for a fellow subbie/pet.
When typing in Gor sites or other sites of the same type a submissive always uses lower case in reference to themselves. Also their names are lower case. Only the Doms are upper case out of respect.
jwhee, since this is not a Dom/sub site you might want to use that shift key.
RoundGuy, now you know that some people have reason for doing this.

Lobsang, I love the subtle undertones of command in your last post…yummy!

Now, where is Bippy when you need him?
I’m sure if I missed something or was unclear that a Master will crawl out of the wood work soon enough to help.

Even though in another thread I was reminded that Masters do not crawl for anything

yes sir.

here is the thread that set me off.

oh, and about the shift key. perhaps it is annoying, but much faster to type. is it, honestly, that hard to read? i use the space key as i should, so the sentences should be easily read, but if not, i will adjust. i’ve just never had such a comment before.

and i do agree with the protective eye gear comment. i should’ve included that in my OP cause i thought the same thing.

and i’d also like to say thanks to you guys. it was most difficult for me to type all that out, and it’s nice to, for once, not have someone think i am just scum for feeling the way that i cannot help feeling

and sorry for the late reply. i think the hamsters needed some coffee last night  please forgive my tardyness thank you

It is only slightly harder to read, but unfortunately it tends to make someone look younger/less well educated/illiterate/lazy if they don’t use the SHIFT key.

Unfair maybe, we’ve had plenty of debate on it in the past, but if you want to come across as credible as possible, write/type as best you can.

Ok. Will do. I dont’ do it out of stupidity though. I have an engineering degree, 29 years old, well read, maybe a bit lazy though. I think of it as more of a style than anything. But I will try to conform, I guess…

Well, it’s refreshing to see a member not get all worked up into a frothy rage when someone criticizes them. Maybe we need more submissives around here.

Submissives can be put to lots of fun uses, can’t we, jwhee  As a rule, we’re rather agreeable people.

Question: While it’s admittedly dangerous to play paintball without protective gear, so are activities like riding a motorcycle without a helmet or any number of potentially dangerous sports.
If an activity is perfectly legal and done between consenting adults (the person chooses not to use protective gear) what business is that of yours? (collective you- I’m not attacking you personally, I’m attacking the idea that is is anyone’s business except the people involved)

I thought it was a fine idea- hoax or not. If people want to participate in an activity like this, I don’t think it’s anyone elses business to tell them it’s too dangerous or that it’s demeaning. If it floats their boat and it’s not something where participation is forced, then I say have at it.

I stand corrected. Thank you. I will, however, still rant about it occasionally.

Well, riding a motorcycle without a helmet is illegal in some areas, so that is the business of local law-enforcement. In areas where it is legal, I would not consider it out of line for the friends and family of the helmet-less rider to criticize him or her for failing to take proper safety precautions. If someone I care about has their head smashed open, then that is my business.

But the comparison here is faulty anyway, as the scenario being faked in these videos was not women participating in a dangerous sport for fun, it was women participating in a dangerous sport for money. I have a problem with hiring people to perform senselessly risky activities that they would not otherwise choose to do. I would be very upset to hear that someone was, say, paying motorcyclists to race helmetless. It’s one thing that some people choose to race helmetless, and quite another to bribe people into doing so for your own amusement. I believe that it is morally wrong to do things that needlessly endanger other people. It doesn’t magically make it okay if you pay them first.

Why do you assume just cause they are getting paid for it that it isn’t fun, or that they wouldn’t do it anyway. What about someone who plays guitar, if they get signed, is it no longer for fun?

What about football? It’s dangerous. People get paid to do it. Does that make it wrong?

Hell, someone go get a fucking paintball gun now, i’m ready to do it for free (a photographer would be nice too!).

Oh yea, and some goggles for fucks sake… or just aim at my ass and tits
