So, my mother talked me into dragging my semi-reclusive brother out of the house to go and see a movie… the choice was “Iron Monkey” or “Bandits”. Sorta flipped a coin and got lucky. I will paraphrase my brother’s comments “Damn, this is the best movie I have seen in a theatre for a long, long time”.
I’m really glad to hear that she won’t be retiring from acting after all. There was an awful rumour going around that she’d quit after her baby this December.
Agreed! Sorry to chime in so late, but I just saw this tonight. Highly entertaining movie. I want to look like Cate Blanchett! Or at least have her hair…
Almost makes me want to live a life of crime (of course, always being polite and never causing actual harm). Make lots of money, and go drink margaritas by the sea for the rest of my life!
My theory as to why this movie hasn’t gotten a lot of attention…people are confusing it with The Heist. I haven’t seen it, but it doesn’t look half as good as Bandits from the previews. Some people may be avoiding it for that reason.
I, the one person who likes virtually everyting, was not that impressed.
I so wanted to love this movie – I’m a huge Billy-Bob fan, but it kind of plodded. Toward the end of the film it seemed like they just went totally off script and were just making things up as they went along.
I can’t remember which reviewer said it, but one quote that I read that I totally agree with is … “It seems the actors were having a better time than the audience was.”
It seemed like a lot of inside jokes were being floated. I didn’t hate it, but it wasn’t as good as I hoped it was going to be. I don’t think it did a very good job of skating along the Comedy/Drama line, and as a result, fell short on both counts.
I’d seen the ads on TV and didn’t really get what it was about. Then we saw the trailer in the theater and our interest level went way up. The next week we saw it. Pretty good! Great ending. (Although I had a feeling the cousin’s talents would come into play later.)
I just saw this movie on DVD tonight. And then I went in search of this thread. I originally rented it, because, you know, Bruce Willis is Mr. Hotty McHotty. …
But I really liked it! good movie. And I don’t usually go for movies like that. Loved the scene where Kate and Terry were doing facials and painting toenails… heehee… I can see why she couldn’t choose between both guys.
