Bands adding dates what's the record?

Back in the early 70’s, I used to see headlines that read, “Led Zeppelin adds 2 shows to their Los Angeles Forum Appearance”. Meaning that instead of having 3 concerts at the Forum (Friday, Saturday and Sunday), they were also going to appear Monday and Tuesday nights apparently because of a huge demand for tickets.

It would seem to me that in a huge market like Los Angeles, NY, Chicago, etc., popular groups like Led, the Stones, The Who, etc. could sell out venues for a week or more.

Anyone know what the record is for concert dates in a row in a city?

Would bands just be too tired to perform 7 nights in a row?

Las Vegas, Wayne Newton maybe? They have concerts every night and fly in a new audience.

In 1981 The Clash were booked to play 8 dates in 9 days at Bond’s Casino in New York City, but when fire marshals shut down an early show due to overcrowding, the band insisted on extending the run so that all ticketholders to could see them, playing 17 shows in 17 days, with one matinee, near as I can figure.

Michael Jackson’s This Is It concerts in London was originally 10 dates, then was expanded to 50. This may not fit the criteria because it wouldn’t be 50 concerts in 50 days, but worth noting due to the massive number of added shows.

Wikipedia says:

“It was announced that Jackson would break the record for number of shows performed by an artist at a single venue, which had been set by Prince, who hosted a 21-date residency at the same arena for his Earth Tour.”
