Banished the game. Addiction bought to me by the SDMB.

In one of the recommend a game threads, this game was recommended.. I am now completely addicted.

So far I’ve gotten 100 citizens on easy/large valley and am currently trying to make it through the population crash that happens when the original settlers die off on hard/small valley.

Any tips? Tricks? Anyone else even playing? I do have one trick I’ve employed. If you have settlements that her a bit far from each other, pause the game, unassign all the workers and then re-assign them. When you unpause the game, the workers should be living closer to their jobs.

I get the urge to play through a few towns now and then to work towards some achievements. I love this little game.

There is a reddit for this game that should lead you to some hints and tips to managing your little town. Those guys have already math’d out everything from the best crop size to what dimensions are needed to get the most headstones in a graveyard.

I’ve started really watching my growth in the beginning in order to avoid any big die-offs. I only add a couple of new houses a year, mainly after I notice that I have a boy/girl paring of children who have recently become adults. The Townhall is great for watching how things are doing, since it will tell you how many families you have, how much you are eating, how much firewood you are burning and on and on. Helps you see what your future pain points are going to be so you can nip them in the bud. Helps to avoid any death-spirals.

This thread should help a bit.

Thanks for the link, Skywatcher. As always, I’m late to the game.
