I think this really belongs elsewhere (and if any sympathetic moderators agree then please move it) but this is one of the single most ridiculous federal announcements I’ve ever come across. I wish I had a thousand dollars to invest in a soon to be collectible.

Heck, just a little while ago, toys with cameras built in were seen as a good thing amongst the paranoid set–you could see what your child or whoever was watching them was up to.
Also, the risk seems incredibly small. Not only would the pedophile have to get the doll back from the child, but the child would have to intentionally turn it on while doing something the pedophile wants to see. And that’s not even getting into the fact that there is a big screen on the back that shows when the camera is recording.
Unless this thing has wifi and can be turned on without the child’s knowledge, these people are just being stupid.
It’s not quite as stupid as the ATF seizing an airsoft gun on the grounds that you could modify it to create a real gun, if you first buy and destroy a real gun for parts.
This display of stupid still should be grounds for immediate firing, though.
