First, I’m aware that historians now say it was one of Phineas Barnum’s rivals, not PT himself, who said, “There’s a sucker born every minute.” Second, it was probably a wild guess at best.
However, if it was true at the time:rolleyes:, it no longer is. Today, the population is larger and, even allowing for a smaller birth rate, there are a whole lot more babies being born every minute than in Mr. Barnum’s time.
With that in mind, there are now (wild guess) 4.3 suckers born every minute!
So, whaddya think? Is my wild guess any crazier than Barnum’s rival’s wild guess?
