Baryshnikov's "Nutcracker" choreography

I’m watching the 1977 ABT “Nutcracker” with Baryshnikov (and what an amazing freaking specimen he was in his prime!). I really like his choreography for this – way more interesting than the Balanchine version.

Does his choreography get performed at all any more? And if so, do they have to tone down the prince’s part (originally danced by Baryshnikov) so a mere mortal can dance it?

Can’t answer your question, but I agree that it’s an amazing performance. Gelsey Kirkland was every bit the match for Baryshnikov. Since it’s a studio performance, it’s a bit odd, and they took some liberties with the ballet, but overall a rare video performance by Kirkland.

Bueller? Anyone?
