Was there a pitcher who gave up four consecutive home runs in MLB? My room mate insists this happened, but I cannot verify this one anywhere. So, did this happen and if so, what was the guy’s name?
Paul Foytack of the LA Angels gave up four straight home runs to Cleveland’s Woody Held, Pedro Ramos, Tito Francona and Larry Brown on July 31, 1963.

Inning 6 of the game.
One team has hit four consecutive home runs on numerous occasions. I recall the Cleveland Indians doing it around 1960 and Pedro Ramos (the picther) was one of the hitters. I would strongly suspect it has happened that some pitcher gave up four consecutive home runs because they did not use relief pitchers so extensivly years ago.
Foytack’s feat of giving up four homers was a confluence of two things:
- he gave them up to an unlikely combo as they were they 8-2 batters in the lineup and the #2 hitter was a rookie shortstop
- it was the second game of a doubleheader so Angels manager Bill Rigney probably didn’t want to waste any more relievers. It was Foytack’s first inning of relief.
