Basic mathmetical question

I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to be a jerk. It’s just that with “word problems” the exact words can make a big difference. I assumed that your friend was stating the problem wrong, and that might have led to the confusion.

English is my first language, and I’m always saying things wrong.

The same!
By not using the word “each” we have a case where in A 100 people share a liter of beer and in country B 20 people share a liter of beer. So both countries each consume a liter of beer.

So now we have Region A with 44 of the total units consumed worldwide. Break down the region into 4 sub-regions, I, II, III and IV.

Of the region’s total population sub-region I has 310 people. Sub-region II has 33, sub-region III has 110 and sub-region IV has the remaining 27 inhabitants.

Now if the rate of consumption per capita is equal then sub-region I would consume 62% of the 44 units in Region A which is 27.28 units or over one quarter of worldwide consumption.

I hope the wording is correct and I believe the numbers are also correct.

i think what the OP meant to say is that amongst drinkers, the consumption RATE is the same. however the total volume is, as we have all easily surmised, in favor of country A.
