Bassists - want to play a Steely Dan-like part?

Here Craig Stevens | SoundClick is a song I wrote in the style of Steely Dan as an excercise to expand my writing range. I think I failed but it was fun trying.
Trouble is, I can wing some keyboard parts but I cannot play bass in anything like the style needed. I know there’s lots of musicians here and Dan fans galore, so wondered if we might collaborate.

If you fancy having a go and have the time, energy, gear to do so - I’d love to hear it. I use Cubase, but I reckon if you can record a wav format - I can do the rest.

The song’s called ‘Cafe Break-up’ and is in a rough mix on the site. I think you click on the word ‘music’ in BLUE to take you to the songs.

This project is purely for fun and will not be sold anywhere, so no residuals sorry!

Thanks for looking - have fun.

I gave it a listen. Good job and all that. As one of the resident Danophiles, I got the lyrical references to Fagen’s Nightfly and the closing riff from Kid Charlemagne.

Not sure I would classify the bass line as Dan-esque.

You’ve seen or have a copy of the Making of Aja? In it, long-time SD bass player Chuck Rainey discusses the bass lines he uses for Peg and Josie. It’s got some amusing anecdotes particularly how Fagen and Becker did not want Rainey to thumb pick in any of the tracks. Rainey however felt that this was just what was needed in the chorus of Peg so he had to turn his back to the pair while playing in order to get away with it.

Don’t know if this helps but keep at it.

Hi Minlokwat - I must not have been clear - there is no bass part on the song - I can’t play well enough, so I was hoping someone here might want to play/record one that I can mix into the song via the magic of the internet.
Thanks for your time and comments. Haven’t seen that doc but will go and look for it now.
Cheers
