Battle for the Aleutian Islands

Recently while reading through a massive site of WWII info, I read about the American invasion of the Japanese occupied Aleutian islands. I’ve done some web searches, but not much info has surfaced. Here are my questions:

How many Japanese perished defending the islands?

How many Americans perished retaking them?

Thanks in advance for satiating my curiousity.

Here’s a pretty good run down ( http://www.army.mil/cmh-pg/brochures/aleut/aleut.htm ). On a quick read it doesn’t seem to answer all your questions directly but still worthwhile if you’re interested in that aspect of the war.
