Okay, so I watch too many info-mercials, but I’ve noticed recently that on T.V. there have been an awful lot of commercials for Pasta Pots. But the strange thing is that I’ve seen at least four different ones. They all look basically the same, but different names, for example, the Pasta Pot Express, The Pasta Pot Pro and the Better Pasta Pot. It makes me wonder how many are out there and why are there so many suddenly competing? Did a class of college students invent these things and they are all racing to make money on it first? Has anyone else noticed this?
I’ve noticed two versions. On one, you rotate the lid to lock it to the pot. On the other, there are latches on the handle.
Personally I just use a regular pot with a handle and pour off the water through a seive.
I’ve only noticed the one that rotates to lock. It look kinda useful, for something sold in an infomercial. At least if you cook a lot stuff that needs to be drained, like pasta.
I like the pasta pot I have. It’s a very large pot with another pot inside that has holes in it. There are handles on both, so when the pasta finishes cooking, you lift the pot that has the holes out of the pot that has the water. I don’t know about the infomercial ones.
I ordered the Better Pasta Pot (the one with locking handles which comes with the chopper, cheese grater, and cutting board) on 11/24, and it has still not been delivered. They sent me a post card offering me another set for $19.95, which made me mutter about the fact that I still haven’t gotten the FIRST one yet!
