Yeah, search for “SDMB”. We don’t use it very often though. Mostly we all just come and go on Ventrillo throughout the evening, and hop on the same server. You can find the Vent server info higher up in this thread.
Seem to average about 6 people on most weeknights.
I’d just like to mention that, stability issues aside, this game is awesome. And I’m pretty tough to please.
If anybody’s still on the fence about it, I highly recommend it. There’s a smallish group that plays pretty regularly, and we always manage to have a lot of fun. Even sucking at this game can be a hilariously good time - the BF3 engine is wonderful for bloopers.
It’s been pretty tough going back to infantry combat after discovering the joy of piloting helichoppers, though.
ETA: Last time I checked, the SDMB server was configured with single-play starts and instant vehicle spawns to let people hop in and practice flying around and such.

Can’t wait for the pack - “December 2011” it says, which is vague. I heard it was supposed to come out a month after release so I was hoping soon. Can’t wait to see the new Wake Island.
Sounds awesome. I wonder why they didn’t include this more destructable terrain thing in previous maps - maybe the first set of maps was too far along the pipeline to add too much to it and they developed the advanced destruction stuff at a later phase? Don’t know. BF3 needs more completely destructable buildings … people complained BC2 overdid it and the maps got too flat after a battle, but I think having the changing environment is cool, and maps only last 20 minutes anyway.
Anyway, that all sounds awesome. Old style BF attack conquest, new maps and weapons - I normally hate DLC but I love this game so much that I hope they give us content out the ass, so long as it doesn’t hold up BF4. It’s not some bullshit call of duty style $15 for 5 maps, 2 of which are recycled - each expansions will have maps, weapons, new technology, etc.
Helicopter gets revenge on mobile AA (the mobile AA vehicles are so overpowered that it’s super satisfying when you manage to take them out from helicopters)
And a long but awesome one: A round in scout helicopters from tonight’s game on the SDMB server. It has it all - helicopter duels with a guy who pounds his head into the desk after being smacked around several times, circling infantry 10 feet above their heads while minigunning them with enough rounds that it looks like the opening scene from robocop, crashing in ridiculous ways but recovering, Torus indulging in his furry fetish, etc.
I need to go through my footage but I don’t think I was recording when that happened or I’d post it for you. It’d look better from your angle anyway.
But yeah, I wish more of you guys recorded stuff - lots of great stuff happens that you can post, and we could make cool videos from multiple angles if we collaborated.
I’m definitely going to get a PVR after my vacation in January to beef up my youtube channel.
Today I actually succeeded in doing a Jihad Humvee: Cover the hood with C4, aim at an enemy tank and floor it, then jump out and pull the trigger when it rams the tank. Hilaaaarious mayhem!
I haven’t had the XBL servers being down problem since launch until a few days after launch, strange? I just got done losing two INSANELY stupid games thanks to my team. I don’t think I EVER saw more than one teammate in an area at a time, a bunch of lone wolfs never able to capture a single objective because they meet 2-3 opponents working as a squad. So dumb.
I will NEVER understand why these people don’t just play team deathmatch if they only like mindlessly rushing around by themselves.
They actually released patch notes this time. Any idea if they ever released previous patch notes in any context?
Anyway, a few crash fixes. Primed grenades drop if you’re killed. You’re less likely to spawn near enemies if you spawn at a base. …Added joystick deadzone setting! WOO! It’s crazy high by default.
Added damage of helicopter miniguns, AA, and Jet cannons against infantry. Needed hugely for helicopters - it’s comical that you can launch 1000 minigun bullets at a guy and have him live… the AA is kinda similar except the AA is so damn OP already that it’s sort of silly. As a compromise the explosive/suppressive value is apparently reduced.
Decrease max damage and range on the SCAR. Probably necesary but frowny face.
Reduced damage from stinger/igla, which is weird, since they’re not that effective as it is.
“Significant changes to join squad functionality” - yay, probably.
"• Anti-stat padding measures taken, disallowing ranked servers to run obscure settings " - I wish they’d clarify what that meant? No instant spawn? No start game with 2 people?

Hmm, they are aware of how stupid this is but don’t fix it even when they’re revamping the squad interfaces? dumb.
They didn’t add more squads, which sucks for 64 player servers. If they allow you to 2-man squad it up . . . well, it just isn’t fair! Plus annoying when there are 4 players in a group and you don’t get in the same squad.
Don’t understand the SAM nerf. ): Also . . . don’t understand the g3(a3) nerf. I’m really glad I didn’t grind out that weapon in coop.
A joystick deadzone is how much you can move the stick from its center neutral position before it registers movement. A small or zero deadzone will register movement even if you move the joystick a tiny amount from the center. A large deadzone may require you to move the joystick 1 or more inches to register any movement.
Question, have you guys EVER shot down an enemy helicopter or jet with the placed Anti-Air cannons? I’ve only ever even got a HIT MARKER one time on a helicopter, I literally think there is no hit detection on the bullets or something, they’re just in the worst places ever and never hit anything.
This is EXCELLENT, I can’t stand when my grenade instantly dissapears a fraction of a second before killing the guy who killed me, just because I died.
Love this, nothing sucks worse than spawning on a base that needs defending, 5 feet in front of an enemy with your back turned.

Definitely agree with this, the SCAR has ridiculous 1 shot kill potential.
