Battlefield 3

It wouldn’t be for the same rifle, since all of the classes have different weapons. Each weapon has its own unlock sequence.

It’s been interesting play on the XBox last night and today. I had some really solid team and squad tactics last night that had us winning CQ after CQ match, with a couple of Best Squad awards.
One match, I was 2nd MVP with K/D of 1/4, but tons of captures and defends, the next I was way down the list with 10/12.

Today, there was a noticeably lower amount of squad tactics, so it was back and forth for wins and losses, and except for the guy who lead the pack for our side, it was the same story of my having a higher round score than most everyone else on my side with (usually) fewer kills. Really it goes to show the importance of captures over kills (IMO).

New short videos:

I don’t even know what to name this one.

In the span of 9 seconds

Interconnected Series of Tubes bails out of his aircraft in front of me to try to enter my aircraft as he flies by. But he’s too far.

So I dive down to swoop him up like superman, but in the process I’m going down so fast that his now-drifting helicopter hits my roof and pushes me down.

I get put into a deadly dive in which I hit a tanker truck - but the tanker truck’s explosive blast force knocks me back harder than my momentum is carrying me forward, so I bounce back up.

At which point a tank, who was sitting there thinking “lol wtf” puts a shell through my wounded bird.

Blowtorch revenge - I took down their helicopter with the mobile AA and they all tried to swarm me to take revenge. But no one had antitank weapons… except the repair tool.

Infantry hits helo with RPG, then gets crushed - I was going to try to run him over anyway, but the guy shot me in the belly with an RPG causing me to crash into him.

Helicopter rams jeep

It’s almost way better than it is, but my teammate (Krinthis) actually finishes off the jeep driver a half second before I ram it. But I send the jeep flying so hard I kill that teammate with the flying jeep.

I need to spend more time in planes and helicopters, especially if I am going to do the James Bond trick.

I bought this game on a total whim when at Best Buy tonight shopping for other games. $29.99 … I keep hearing everyone talk about this and Modern Warfare 3 (which was NOT on sale anywhere), so I thought I’d give the genre a try.

Since I got went a bit crazy with my buys ( Batman Arkham Asylum, Battlefield 3, Castlevania Lords of Shadow, Final Fantasy XIII, God of War 3, Grand Theft Auto 4 Complete, Heavy Rain Directors Cut, LA Noire Complete Edition, Lego Rock Band, Mortal Kombat, NBA 2K12, NHL 12, Prince of Persia Trilogy, Red Dead Redemption Game of the Year, Rocksmith, Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade, Toy Story 3), it might be a while before I get to this one…

I know people reading this far in the thread probably own the game, but it’s $30 on Origin as part of their black friday sale. Not sure how long that price lasts but you should snatch it up or tell your friends to snatch it up.

Huh. Not in Sweden, apparently. BF3 is 499 SEK / 67 USD. I was rather hoping to sntach it up before all my money goes towards bills… and beer.

The new patch buffed the miniguns on the transport choppers pretty significantly. Previously when we did the immortal helicopter we were mostly just a distraction since it was hard to kill anything, but now we can be pretty potent.

We played a round of caspian rush last night where we were never shot down and we got like 20-25 kills throughout the round. And just as importantly, the enemy all switched to stingers and focused on us while the rest of our team on the ground shot their distracted asses.

We should do more immortal choppering, including footage shot from multiple people or at least multiple positions.

I took a ten day break to play other video games/get caught up on school/ sleep, etc. I went from having the highest score to being fourth. And having the highest rank to…um…not.

Damn, I feel like a loser…::emotear::

Since you guys like seeing me die so much, I posted Helicopter Fail The Sequel

Also, I did a slow motion video of random awesome moments that looked more awesome in slow motion.

Please thumbs up/subscribe/comment/whatever.

It occurs to me that pretty much all of the complaints I have about this game relate to them trying to make the game easy mode for people.

IRNV - easy mode.
Lock on missiles - easy mode.
Automatic soflam - easy mode.
Guided tank shells - easy mode, no skill based, but does require cooperation. Or… an automatic soflam.
Guided helicopter rockets - better just to make rockets hit harder but still make the pilot score direct hits

If they put in less crap to dumb the game down and make it easy on users it’d be a better game.

I really really like how about 1/3 of the time, you’re all “And we’re good!” KABOOM

To be fair, I have another videoin which we crash into something, I say “we’re good”, and we actually are.

(That video is a compilation of the silly bouncy crash physics)

Much thanks to** Beef **and company for putting up with my limited time and experience with this game.

It’s difficult to put up with you in any context, so the game is no big deal!

Anyway, we need to do some immortal choppering. I’m going to clear out some of my fraps backlog so I can make a good video. Under the right circumstances we should be able to last the entire round and kill 20-40 people between us.

Depending on the map, everyone should equip a javelin or stinger so we can have the guys in the back seats taking down vehicles when they’re not needed for repairs.

If anyone could run fraps so we can get the flight from multiple angles that would be ideal… but if not, Torus can pilot some of the runs and I’ll switch around in the positions to get footage from everywhere.

I don’t think you are worse than me.

I was playing alone last night and had my finest round ever. The overall stats are pretty good but not great - what really made it was one particular run in the middle of the map.

We were attacking on Kharg Island rush on the third set of MCOMs. My team was all caught up in a fight somewhere irrelevant, so I ran myself to the remaing m-com point in the three story concrete building. On the way there, alone, I killed 4 guys, ran up, planted the m-com, killed another 4 guys waiting for it to explode, the m-com goes off, and an enemy tank comes to hunt me down - which I then kill with 4 RPGs. That opens up the next set of m-com stations, so I run to that last warehouse and on the way there I kill 6 more enemies. I finally get to the warehouse, plant the m-com, and kill 2 more guys while waiting for it to explode - still alone. I was killed at that point but bought enough time to successfully destroy the mcom.

So 16 kills, one tank, and 2 m-coms destroyed in one life.

After that… they were defending the last m-com point really well, and they even drove a tank into the warehouse. So I grabbed our attack helicopter, flew all the way over there, blew down the ocean-facing wall, and then hovered about 5 feet outside the building, 10 feet off the ground and pounded the tank hiding in the building. I also had at least two nemesis kills, as you can see by the nemesis ribbon, yet it says zero. Lame.

I also managed to get a triple kill with a TV missile earlier in the map - not even sure that happens seeing as TV missiles don’t seem to kill infantry. Maybe it was the tank exploding that killed nearby infantry, or maybe they had a 3 man tank going.

Edit: Those stats are inaccurate, since it says my highest killstreak is 2, and it only shows me as having 220 objective score, and I should have at least 1000 for the two destroyed m-coms. You can also see I got two nemesis ribbons and a savior ribbon, yet it says 0 for nemesis and savior kills. Lame.

Thanks a lot!

And I so desperately need to practice flying. I haven’t bothered to try on BF3 yet as I don’t want to embarrass myself. I had *such *a hard time flying especially helicopters in Desert Combat, but I don’t think I can really avoid it anymore.

Backhanded compliments will get you everywhere, big boy.

Well, going 5-20 in a round isn’t unheard of for me. I have been working on cutting down my deaths lately and it is starting to even out. However, I still have trouble killing. I get rounds on my targets and it doesn’t seem to have any effect. I get hit once or twice and I am dead…

Also, what use is the mini map? If somebody on my team sees something shouldn’t that appear on the mini map? I have looked at enemy tanks drive by me and they still don’t show up at the mini map.

Things only show up on the mini-map if they make noise by shooting (hence why silencers are useful) or if someone ‘spots’ them. Push Q when looking at something to ‘spot’ it. This causes it to show up on the mini-map, and to get that orange icon over its head. It’s kind of hard for choppers and jets to see where they are going, so a couple good infantry running around spotting tanks really helps out your team’s pilots.

Of course this doesn’t last forever. After something shoots I’d estimate it stays an orange dot for a couple seconds. If ‘spotted’, maybe 20 seconds.
