No, every system is separate.
Ahh, figured as much but was just wondering.
So apparently I got this PC code to use to get some weapons free. It tells me to Select Multiplayer then Extras. When I click on my BF3 desktop icon, it takes me to the battlelog page and I don’t see any place titled “extras”. Anyone have help for a battlelog newb?
I don’t have it up, but I’m pretty sure you enter codes into the Origin interface instead of the Battlelog.
I had a lot of trouble flying the Huey with the XBox360 version. Which is strange because used to rock the shit with the Apache in Bad Company 2.
I would say expect to die a lot and have no idea why for awhile until you can upgrade your kit somewhat. Until you upgrade your optics to something a little better than the default iron sights on your weapon, you’ll have a hard time finding and engaging targets at any sort of distance.
Also, try and find some cover and stay put. You can’t really ‘run and gun’ through any of the maps in any of the Battlefield games because most weapons can kill you from pretty far away.
Also, if you find a garbage bin, hide inside it and deal death with your mortar.
I got killed 4 times last night by the BF3 equivalent of Oscar the grouch.
Haha.
Thanks for the tips.
I wouldn’t try to run and gun in most games, and definitely not one that is somewhat of a simulator.
How does one “upgrade” the kit you have? I can see how in the single player, but this also happens in the multiplayer?
Everyone doesn’t have the same gear or access to it anyway?
Just not clear on the game mechanics.
Go to origin and select add product from their menu.
That’s going a bit far - it does the realism aesthetic - the realistic-looking without really being realistic game better than any previous game, but definitely not a simulator.
Like every other damn game now, you’re on a progression/unlock treadmill like Call of Duty. Get enough points, level, get a new toy. Kill X people with Y gun, get a new site. Score X points as an engineer, get a class upgrade. Stuff will naturally unlock in the course of gameplay.
Ahh, understood.
As far as the simulator comment, just meant it’s not auto-aim and cover that defends against anything.
How about " a more realistic experience"?
A bunch of people added me on battle log, which is good, but because Origin is stupid (they integrate origin into the game, but your battle log friends list is seperate from your origin friend list, and you can only do text chat with the origin friends as far as I can tell) it’d be helpful if you could add me in both places, otherwise I won’t be able to send you a message if I need to. If we’re all on vent it won’t really matter I suppose, but just to make things easier, add me on origin, and then when you launch the battlelog website it’ll ask you if you want to import your origin friends into battlelog.
What time?
Probably within an hour. Since Kinthalis switched server providers to one that doesn’t provide a free vent server (we do have mumble, which I’ll get around to trying, but for now most people have vent), we’ll use the old SDMB one:
Hostname: vent3.gamespeak.com
Port: 4303
Password: deathrays
Not sure WTH my problem is.
I happened to be at the store so I grabbed a DVD ROM copy to save me having to download it.
I’ll be damned if no matter what I try, it takes me to Origin and tried to start downloading it when I open the disk and do an auto run.
I have the latest version of origin installed.
I have the game code already registered, but it goes to start downloading it.
Then it crashes.
What the crap?
Think the site is just overloaded?
So, I have a disk with the game on it, but I can’t get it installed. Totally bogus.
Do I need Battlenet before even installing the game?
Currently downloading the game…even though I have a disk.
The installer must not be able to tell that I have the game on the disk, or something.
No idea, I tried everything I know how to do, and it always pops up an Origin page that says “Install” for BF3, but then starts downloading it.
Good grief.
: P
Technology. It just works
Wondering if it is a patch or something?
No idea. It’s just annoying more than anything.
I had the same thing. Origin says it downloads but it only downloads in the sense that it downloads it from the disk. I was transferring data at 5MB/s which just wouldn’t happen with my connection so it must have been from the disk.
There will be some patches you’ll have to download but they were few in my case.
I’ve heard of retail game disks leaving out a bit of the data needed so that you have to go online to authenticate and complete the copy as an anti-piracy measure. Or it could be a patch. You shouldn’t have to redownload the whole thing - but this is EA, and EA is stupid, so that very may well be the case.
If they would’ve let it get released on steam, it would just work, I’d imagine.
So, it is loading off the disk but it doesn’t really say that.
They need to make that more clear. Oi.
Not sure how much time I’ll have to play, but I’m “emustrangler” on the Origin/Battlelog/whatever its called thingy.
