Battlestar Galactica '03 series greenlighted

They are supposed to be making a miniseries to clear everything up. Keep your fingers crossed.

Speaking of which, after the weasel got good ratings for the sci-fi channel, they said they were going to do a whole bunch of woowoo programs from some dream interpetation show to other stuff. All I see there now is the Byrant Gumbel UFO ‘specials’. Did every single one of those shows flop?

The SCi-fi channel’s president’s head should have been on a pike for that nonsense.

I dream of the day when there’ll be a coup in the leadership of the Sci Fi Channel and they decide to actually, you know, focus on Science Fiction … or get bought out by a large media conglomerate and become SpikeTV2. At least then we’d know what to expect.

Are you kidding me? I love Stargate Mondays! Its helping catch up from when the series was on Showtime and I didn’t have cable.

Nope. I like SG1 but not enough for five hours of it, especially during prime time. OTOH, if they moved it to a weekend afternoon…

Does anyone know if & when SciFi will be rerunning the mini-series/now pilot shows? I know a lot of people who didn’t bother watching it and now want to after hearing how good it was…

There isn’t mention of the '03 version of BSG being re-aired but it looks like Amazon is expecting a DVD to be released eventually.

Nope I did not. I gathered from IMDB that Baltar was an evil genius stereotype. Going on that assumption I’d say that the new one is better. However, I didn’t dislike the guy, just him and 6’s interaction seemed like a tacted on romance plot. Also, it was very weird to see a halucinated cylon with her hands down a doctors pants.

Not so much the Evil Genius. More of an Evil Idiot. He was Count Baltar, rather than Doctor Baltar, and betrayed the humans to the Cylons because… well, because for some reason he thought robots set on destroying his entire species would spare spare some to be his slaves.

I’m thinking knowing the original series and knowing who Baltar is has some effect on this. The relationship between him and No 6 means he has motivation beyond ‘I’m a complete and total moron’. Now, No 6, both in her original physical form, and now in his head, has Dr. Baltar so confused, it’s a lot more understandable that he’d think his actions reasonable.

I’m really happy that they greenlighted it.

I grew up with ST:NG but now I’m tired of the same recipe being recycled over and over. Especially because ST is just too… clean and feely-touchy. Everything has a magic solution! I especially hated how Enterprise reintroduced the transporter almost immediately instead of making it more look like the original moon Apollo missions.

I want nitty-gritty; technology that looks like Soviets built it instead of some designer in New York

BSG gives me that with a damn good explanation too: they would make easy target to Cylons if they had too much technology! Hopefully they’ll stick to it and make life on BSG hard as hell.

As long as they don’t make it too dark and depressing. I remember how bored I got with Space Above and Beyond. After awhile I was hoping humans would just loose the war already considering they lost just about every single battle and encounter.

I just wonder about the ability to keep the quality at the same level of the mini-series. Other than that, I will be watching (or at least taping and watching).
